    personally i like the sharkoon x-tatic v3.

    genuine 5.1 with eight drivers.

genuine 5.1 with 4x 3.5mm jacks (inc mic).

    £55

tested with dead-space and the 3d positional ability is amazing!

Sennheisers (PC161 or 350s depending on on or over ear preference) are my personal favourite, plus the noise cancelling on the microphone is very good. A large proportion of my clan use these models and you can tell the ones who don't (normally sound like they are in a bathroom or something)

I was at a LAN all weekend and I have the Razer headphones. Great sound of course, but as mentioned it is so comfortable to wear! I'd definately recommend.

    this review needs:

    Steelseries H5v2
    Steelseries Siberia V2
    Steelseries 7H
    Razer Megalodon
    Sennheiser HD555
    Sennheiser PC-350
    Those white Creative's

when all of them are reviewed, and Carcharias's score degraded as a result of having better headphones to buy, then this article will be relevant in my eyes.

Yeah, why does the date say 3rd Jan? Is that when it was originally reviewed?

Are we going to get a roundup of gaming headsets because I wouldn't mind buying some better headphones at the moment and would like to know bit-tech's oppinion on all the main ones such as Samek1337 states above as well as any other top selling & recommended ones. :)

Also this line needs fixing: "The latter is also connects via USB"

I really wish you guys would enable us to easily get an overview of similar products.

Why not have a chart/list which shows the total overall scores for each of the hardware categories?

Call it "king of the hill" or something, generate some hype by creating announcements on the homepage that a new king of the hill has been crowned for a specific category.

To be honest the first place I read when a new review has been written is the last page, because I simply want to know if it's worth reading in the first place? If I read all the way through your testing to find that it gets only 5-6 then it feels like a waste of time. Then only in exceptional circumstances will I read it anyway, and thats normally only when a bit-tech competitor rates it higher, because then it's down to the content and methodology used to rate the product.

    Keep up the good work.

Actually for gaming I would add to the test Roccat Kave - real 5.1 setup and actually sounds very nice. I'm using it for... forgot... actually as soon as they got out... :)

Will you be testing headphones along with these, at least as an alternative? The Senn HD555 and Audio Technica AD700s are used for gaming fairly often.

A range of headsets including this one are reviewed in the December issue of CPC, if you wanna check it out.

I ordered one of these last week from Scan as my sennheisers got wrapped around my chair one too many times, but it's stuck in the snow... boo hoo :(

ya no reviewer should ever use the terms The BEST... all it does is cause controversy lol but does make for some entertaining forum reading.

Please review the Psyko Audio headset.
It is missing a good review and it is so promising. Please consider.

You guys also have to keep in mind price.
These are only $70 and IMO you get a good bang for your buck.
Some of the other headphones are going to set you back well over $100.

I love turning up vibration and listing to the distant rumble of an artillery strike in Red Orchestra with my Speedlink Medusa nx 5.1 headset. I'm no audiophile and don't have much to compare it with but at £43.99 I think its great value.

Nice review, however think i'll stick with my PC350's - expensive, yes, but great audio quality and build quality (i've normally broken some part of my headset after this length of time using them, but these are definitely built to last).

Tried the Roccat Kave 5.1 headset recently and wasn't that impressed. Sound seemed to echo too much even with no dsp effects and stereo sources didn't seem to sound vibrant enough. Might give them another try at some point though.
