I'm trying to find a remote solution to use while I am at work to connect to my windows machine at home. I have a fast connection at home(60d/5u) and I want something that can take advantage of that speed, little to notice lag(so if Im running programs or games), sound, and any other perks. I've looked into Gotomypc, PCanywhere, Radmein, and even considered logmeinPro. I considered VNC but it does not allow streaming or sound. Either way, price is not a option. I'm just trying to find the best, not cheap or small, solution. Any ideas?
Have you looked into the builtin Remote Assistance? Start, search "Remote Assistance" VLC does have a desktop streaming protocol. Haven't figured out how to stream, yet.
I have not. I might end up trying that. Do you know if it is able to do any of the things I mentioned?
Remote Assistance requires someone one the other end to send an invite and accept a person into the system What is your Windows version and edition at home?
Teamviewer gets my vote. Easy to use, and sets up a vpn between the 2 pcs that does not get routed through thier servers. Even comes with a free andriod app to control pcs with. Works a treat!
Win7 Home. Keep in mind, I am a senior IT tech. I know how to setup RDP. I'm just trying to determine the best solution for what I am seeking.
Really? Does VNC offer what I am seeking that I noted in my first post? I was told it would not be the best of what I am seeking.
Well I could try every remote software package I could find. Wasting countless days and hours trying to find a good match. Then again, I could post up on a several forums seeking reviews from people who can point out remote software that reflect what I am seeking and recommend the best suite that matches those qualifications. Rather than someone just mentioning the only one that I specified in my initial post as something that I've already looked into as something that is not a good fit or simply saying "try it". I think laying out what I am seeking asking people who have tried multiple versions of remote software that can make the distinction to match up my reasons for using one to recommend which one I should try makes more sense.
I personally don't think screenscan technology is really the best thing to use when it comes to trying to restream video and audio via another desktop. Then again considering your IT seniority(!), you probably know that. RDP would be the only thing I would consider. Or just stream your video properly through VLC - that would be the genuine solution IMO.
For streaming music or video, you can use Windows 7 built-in feature. http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/r...6ab7/d44c5aa6-0ab1-4826-8c16-4bedcdd96ab7.wmv
Not entirely true. There is a patch online that enables windows 7 home premium to be an RDP host. I've used it and it works
Illegal activities are against forum rules. Plus, saying that you hack illegally a software on a public forum, is a great way to grab Microosft attention.
