+1 to that. Wasnt it the first car designed specifically for rally use instead of converted from a road car?

What else would it be?! I just loved the fact it won the monte carlo in such a small car, an engine with max output of 70bhp, top speed of 99mph and 0-60 in 13 seconds....

The way the floor needed repairing, so they rolled the mini on its side to weld it up, starting a small fire in the process!

 Wouldn't expect anything else from a Mini nut.

That's a great car, no doubt, but it's not quite insane enough to be my fave. What is it about old-school mini's festooned with rally lamps and a roofrack that makes them look so good?

Ahh, that looks oddly familiar... did Michael Jackson use one in his Moonwalker film?

Well i kinda had to say it really! I've been a marshall at a local classic rally and saw all the mk1 / mk2 escorts, lancia stratos, anglia's. porsche's hillman imps and some more modern cars including a evo with the LOUDEST anti-lag system ive ever heard, every gear change was preceeded with a BANG BANG BANG as fuel is dumped into the exhaust!

i'll post some pics up, but my ears really pricked up when i heard the whine of a 4 speed straight cut gear box from a mini! :D The ruts the other guys were making on the corners were so deep the minis would bottom out if they drove in them, so they didnt!

It's a Ford Cortina, Mk1. Either a genuine or a replica Lotus Cortina.

PS, the first Mark 2 Escort you show is the same car (a Stobart sponsored Escort RS1800), that I have shown in my post, being driven by Jimmy McRae on the 2006 RAC (Roger Alexander Clark memorial rally)

If you're going to go with the Celica it has to be the fourth gen Cheesecake. (my personal dream car) And BTW it was the Delta S4 that was a group B car not the Integrale

Yup. Truly a bizarre time for rally with the introduction and hasty dissolution of the Group B Unlimited class. All we have today as remnants of the tragic Group B monsters is the Unlimited class of the PPIHC, and I certainly hope it stays that way: disbanded for good and for life.

Certainly Cortina Mk1 but it isn't a genuine Lotus as they were only built in 2 door form. I would guess this to be a 4 door GT with the green Lotus stripe added to it - something that happened to lots of them!

Datsun 510 with a welded differential.

My dad use to race these back in the 70's as a semi-pro/pro rally in the US.
