Currently at work I have to endure

    Dell Optiplex

    2.8ghz P4 HT
    1GB ddr

Its woeful. Especially as I am screening images on the bloody thing.

I had a faster pc 6/7 years ago.

Currently in negotiations to get rid of the ball mouse.....

Makes going home feel great though :thumb:

    Same except with 3gb RAM.

The RAM makes so much difference. Half tempted to overclock the CPU but I don't trust the fan and dell :D

My misses has the same thing at work. The systems are so old that she had to retrain herself to go backwards about 8 years. She works for the Holiday inn, so it's not like they're some tin pot outfit either. But apparently the IT mob have said they'll be upgrading this year. what to I don't know, but I think it's just some of the software and the old systems are staying...lol . She has the same thing as you, where she gets home and the oldest thing is probably my old laptop which is about 3 years old. If she had her way she'd take her laptop in but they wont let her, probably afraid it's going melt their severs...lol

    Woeful...

    Dell Latitude D630
    T7100 (1.8GHz, 2MB cache, 800MHz FSB)
    G965 chipset graphics
    2.5GB RAM
    80GB HD
    Windows XP

The RAM is fine, it is the slow CPU that drives me nuts, everything takes forever...it is worth about £80 second hand, if that.

That said, there is a refresh coming and I might get a new i3 or i5 Latitude.

My own computer is an Athlon64 X2 4000+ with 2GB of RAM, 80GB hard drive, VIA Chrome graphics and a 17-inch monitor. I'm the lucky one - mine's the only computer here with PCIe slots. The rest are Prescott P4s (and some Athlon XPs) with 512MB RAM and 15-inch screens.

My Dell PC from Jan 2003 has a better spec then them.

    32 GB RAM
    2xnVidia Quadro FX 4800
    130GB HDD

    Dell Precision M6300 Laptop
    T7700 Core2Duo 2.4 Ghz
    Nvidia Quadro FX 1600M
    4 GB RAM
    120 GB HDD
    Win 7 x64 Enterpise

It's not bad. I run lots of virtual machines so 4 GB of RAM quickly gets eaten if I have more the 2 running together.

Main work PC is my laptop but have 2 or 3 spare machines and test servers dotted around.

    Asus G73JW
    i7-740QM
    8GB Ram
    60GB Vertex 2E SSD & 500GB SATA
    Nvidia GTX460M
    Win 7 Ultimate x64

Had this imported from the States - comes with international warranty and paid £1275.00 delivered for it. Cheapest it was available in the UK was £1695.00 at the time. Another case of shamelessly screwing the UK market over.

In the office we have to use whatever is lying about. There’s no budget in the IT department for our own computer systems. So:

    Intel Core2Duo E4500 @ 2.20GHz
    4Gb RAM (3 showing - 32bit OS)

    Nvidia GeForce 8400GS
    3Dfx Voodoo 3

    250Gb WD 3.5"
    80Gb Seagate 3.5"
    80Gb Fujitsu 2.5"

    2x 17" 4:3 TFT
    1x 19" 16:9 TFT

    Windows XP SP3

    Inspiron 530
    Intel Core 2 @ 1.8Ghz
    1GB of Ram
    Windows 2k.

We're supposed to be being upgraded to win7, but our service department (the other half of the IT department, wierd US setup) realised that these computers can't cope, and need more memory first, so they were going to order some more RAM first. That was in december. :wallbash:

Could be worse, at least i've got a 17" monitor, poor sod next to me has a 15" screen, and a computer that appears to run on hamster-wheel power.

    Core 2 Dual E6750
4GB RAM with 32bit XP :wallbash:
    2400XT graphics card

gets the job done. many of my work are done in Xserver, so desktop doesn't have to be so powerful.

Hah! I just rebuilt our shared Optiplex for clinical use. We have the 270 model which is:
    3.2Ghz P4 HT
2GB DDR RAM (I upped it from 512MB)
    40GB HD
    Intel IGP, 15" TFT

With a fresh install it actually boots in less than a minute!

My personal work machine is a Dell Optiplex 745, it has the following:
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86Ghz
    3GB DDR2
    40GB HD
    Windows XP Pro SP3
    Intel IGP, Dual 17" TFTs
    Wacom Bamboo tablet

I'm supposed to use Photoshop on this. It's slow, hates multitasking and I hate it back.

    POS Lenovo ThinkCentre. Core2 Duo.

It stuggles to wake up in the morning unless I call down to the engine room for more power.

Dell Optiplex 770L (P4 2.66ghz, 512meg ram with Intel 82865G on board graphics, rollerball mouse and 15" monitor).

It's a big week next week. It's being upgraded to 2gig of DDR333 plus a 400 dpi laser mouse!! Let the good times roll.

I will add; I hate it.

    More power? She'll fly apart!

Forgot to add that the case I'm using is basically an open frame with the guts of the machine spilling out on the desk. I got frustrated with the beige box and over time the facia, case cover, face plates and reinforcing bar have been scattered to the four winds. I actually prefer the case in it's dystopian state.

I do my so-called work at home, so it's the only computer I don't take apart all the time :D

    X6 1090, 4 GB, GTX 470, 4 TB..

You might also want to list the screen(s) as for normal office use I'd say that's the most important part. For me it's a single 24" p-mva screen.
