I have wondered this for sometime... Why do some modders like zap and plelox and genome get so many replys and others do not? What about views to replys? Here is what I think... feel free to add to this. (I hope this is in the right forum, if not please move)... 1. Idea... come in to a project with a good idea and possibly a sketchup to facilitate conversation. Some starting ideas help conversation flow. 2. Pics are everything... remember a pic is 1000 words... use them, and people with 56k sorry... 3. Show work... yes as soon as possible to keep people intersted. A fine balence needs to be struck to see what is good and what is not good enough for this. I tend to show work in the middle if it is a complecated mod, or at the end of each peice if it is simple. 4. Answer questions, facilitate conversation. Keep up with the thread, do not let it die... 5. Do something inovative with your case, rust is a good example, also different new mods like hinged panels and different windows and ... 6. Look at views not replys, people do not reply when they do not have something to say. I do not like spam and some people get 1000+ post with 2/3s as good job... or only... interest is guaged with content not number. 7. Credit all that you borrow from.,.. ie the cdroms doors are modled agfter orac3... Look at my thread and you will see what I am talking about (project divergence). I am a film buff and will take lots of pics... I do stuff different when I can and draw ideas that I have seen before. I mod with a purpose and to please myself. Think of unique ideas and others may be inspired by you... Any other ideas, please post them, this is an open forum on the topic
One factor you did not list is reputation. Any post by the "big-dogs" is going to get more than a few views and questions posted(track record means alot). After that, pictures (I think) are the trick. Anyone can post and say "I am going to do this/that or I have done that".
