A majority of banks still technically use overnight batch processing, especially the older ones.

Sure, you’ll see your balance update and transactions appear throughout the day as you, for example, withdraw cash, move money around, make card payments, etc. But technically those are predictions, because the core account processing actually takes place overnight.

In the vast vast majority of cases, this distinction is irrelevant. But it can lead to oddities like this

House buying, third time we've bought a house, third time there's always an annoyance.

Solicitor can't start any searches or anything yet as the sellers solicitor hasn't had all the information they need yet to make up the pack.

It is such a pain in the backside, I like things to move at a good pace.

I'll try not to have an aneurysm in the meantime

E: Scratch that. This is the first time we've bought a house where we've exchanged numbers and it's extremely handy and helps reduce stress. All sorted, all good.

My fridge/freezer seems to be freezering but not fridging. :duh:

UPDATE: Turning the dial up from 3 to 5 has it fridging again. Must've been knocked when putting the shopping in it.

Someone needs to explain to me how maths work
Thought it was going to be around £4K, I blew past that 2 days ago, currently sitting at £5K :dremel:
Think it would have been cheaper to go on holiday for a month

Yay for cost of living crisis.

My fixed-rate electricity tariff comes to an end soon. Either way it’s going up a lot, but I can choose from: slightly lower unit rate & standing charge but no cheap overnight rate; or, more expensive unit rate & standing charge, but cheap overnight rate.

My car insurance is also up for renewal soon. I can have it at basically the same price… if I have a nanny-app that monitors my driving and cancels my policy if I fail to meet some arbitrary standard. Apps which are notorious for not tracking people correctly; claiming, for example, that someone had been driving over the speed limit during the day when in reality they’ve been nowhere near the car all day because they were sat on their arse in the office. Or I can pay £15 per month more than I do now to not have the nanny-app.

    Yay.

    New car day, yay

New car broken down before handover…..Meh

I am just that lucky, the only car of the bunch shipped that has an issue it is mine.

Similar happened with recent Computer purchases 3 in 5 failed in different ways, I guess if there is any positives to be had, I have the issues so others can have a better experience, see I'm charitable like that :D …… but Meh.

Paint wasn't the problem, external already done
I haven't even started the storage yet! (likely to be scaled back a bit, wood shelves etc.)
I think part of the problem has been a 'changing mind' situation, firstly wanted JCC ToughLED;s, then decided on other, now I bought 8 downlighters

At least one thing, it'll be insulated better than expected

Just waiting for the moment this becomes a "What currently makes your life awesome?" post

Just found out my boss has been holding off telling anyone his daughter passed away a month ago......for a whole month he's been carrying on with our demanding projects, we went abroad to handover work has was covering for someone, listening to my cr@p about work and stuff.

I feel a bit numb, I can't even imagine how he is and I know he just wants normality so I can't/won't ask

Took the week off to chill out at home, catch up on the gardening, that kind of thing...

And have managed to catch the lurgy which is DEFINITELY NOT COVID.

Technically I can claim my holiday time back, but in reality it doesn't change how I was planning to spend most days, playing a game, eating some nice food, and a bit of Lego and reading too. However, I really wanted to crack on with the garden today as it's going to be uncomfortably hot the rest of the week, but was in no state to do so.

    Holy crap that's heavy.

I can't imagine what he's going through..I know some people find the normality of work can help and perhaps this is what he was doing and why he didn't mention it.

Like I say, I can't imagine but I can imagine that you'd want some sort of anchor and focus.

    Damn.

Last time I had this I cancelled to go with Grain Fibre locally. Virgin rang me a few days later and offered me 300mb for £15 down from £50.

Funny that! I was with Virgin too in Sunderland. Then moved to grain. 900mb, something like £18 a month for 12 then £25 for 6. Virgin was going up from £25 to £40. they rang me couple weeks after going with grain and offered to try and beat grains but then said they couldn’t go that low. :hehe:

BUT… I’d say Grains is less stable. So.
Never had any issue with virgins was always full

Housemate saga continues. He's complained about same "issues" as before vs LL's confirmed in writing he's not taking action on me

Said housemate did not take kindly to me reminding him having adult relations with his girlfriend being zina (unlawful act), it's considered as kabair which in his faith is a major sin. He wasn't happy :hehe:

Skyblivion is still not ready to go, now supposed to be ready this year but, not confident as the date keeps moving away into the future. As it is a volunteer job, this can't be helped, but is disappointing.

    https://skyblivion.com/dev_diary/delay-announcement/

Was hoping to play this, as my PC's old GTX1070 ti, is not going to be up to playing Oblivion Remastered at 1440p.

The fact that the pen Buzz Aldrin used to hold a switch in place to be able to leave the Moon (and the switch itself for that matter) is being sold at auction.

    To quote Indiana Jones:

    "It belongs in a museum."

Park the bus and then stand off them in the final third? For twenty minutes? Genius plan, Tuchel, proper 4d chess.

    ffs
