Yeah, sorry about that. I couldn't fit all the porn and dongs in the car so had to leave some behind.
@IanW - Ew! Said tenant was some kind of Pug-Human hybrid and my first response at seeing the dongs was to wash my hands with industrial cleaner.
Employed a local lad and his new landscaping business to do some work at my property, he's failed hard, going to cost me thousands, very meh.
Came home and WiFi on my phone wasn’t working. Every other device was fine, including my OH’s phone. No issues on the router, access point all ok, firmware & software up to date. Digging into it a few hours later, I noticed mention of my old TV and its IP address in a router log entry - the next log line mentioned an iPhone and the same IP address. A while back, I added an IP address reservation for my old TV and added a rule to ban all traffic to the WAN from that IP. That TV hasn’t been connected since Saturday afternoon, but the router had assigned the same address to my phone… et voila: all internet traffic from my phone blocked. Hoisted by my own petard.
He bloody should be, so it goes live and learn, I knew it was a risk, did not appreciate how much, pushed this way as I'm a soft touch listened to my missus and mum etc, going give the lad a chance etc, it'd be great for his portfolio etc, and actually I'm generally down for supporting someone trying to better themselves, but he bit off more than he can chew, fortunately I'm in a good position in life, other end of the grafting curve, where 10k here or there is whatever, had my failures, there were many, so know the score and how it feels after you've F*&^^ed it when genuinely trying to do well, I'll just take it on the chin, poor lads dad is terminal and he's got a baby dropping imminently, told you soft touch
B4RN have emailed to say they're cancelling the planned fibre in the area I'm moving to. Yet according to the gov website they've been approved for it already and it's planned to go ahead. FML.
Seems rather like it was here. 2 years ago Airband informed us they were installing fibre in our village, then a month after we were due to go live, announced they weren’t doing it. Now we are on FTTP 500mbps, via Plusnet, with the installation work for the village, carried out by Openreach. All the while Connecting Devon and Somerset, who are supposed to be coordinating things, seemed to have little idea what was happening.
Have to see what happens when we finally move. See what speed actually comes through, there's always a 14 day cooling off. Will be checking 4G as well. Worse case scenario there is the legal universal service obligation - although current owner says their broadband has at least gone super fast in recent months yet isps don't even seem offer that as a guaranteed speed. Blummin annoying though, was hoping B4RN would solve our problems.
Openreach has been fairly slow installing fibre to rural areas, which allowed the alt-nets to get their feet in the proverbial door. Openreach's planning previously involved maps and dartboards, but now they appear to be getting smarter. Maybe they've realised just how much of the rural market they've given up to the alt-nets? But OR do now seem to be rolling out in areas that they've previously ignored, and the alt-nets are realising that they can't compete with that.
Aye I think we'll just have to muddle on by until it's available. The cabinet is a fair way away so it's not going to be great on the copper sogea. I picked up a second hand 4g router to test that out too. Don't fancy giving Elon any cash
An old friend was found after 11 days of being reported missing. Her death isn't being treated as suspicious so suspect she took her own life. She was found on my route to and from work so the thought that we've been crossing paths all this time isn't sitting well with me. In any case, I wish she'd reached out.
Jesus. So sorry to hear that mate, it's such an awful shame. I've only ever been indirectly linked to such things but even then it can throw you for six so we're about if you need to offload.
I've been there 35 years ago, although I was found and an ambulance called, just before it was too late. When you are that desperate, the thought that you and everyone else would be better off with you dead, dominates your mind, along with thinking about how to do it. Thoughts of asking for help, don't enter your head, you just feel entirely alone. You have so many very dark thoughts running around in your head...
I understand the why, but still doesn't stop the thoughts about how it could have been different. And that if I'd been a better friend I might've noticed before it got to anywhere near this bad, that she had to go through this alone. But we didn't see and now she's gone. I'm glad you survived and hope you're in a much better place these days, pal. I think just stating it here helps at least a little, I feel like I didn't know her as much as some friends do so feel somewhat guilty about talking through my sorrow with them as they're more affected, but it's still a real pisser. Going for a walk in the woods and a few beers with the missus when she's done with work, should help clear my head.
Finding the right woman, is why I'm still here now. As for feeling you should have noticed, I can't speak for her but, I kept my thoughts well hidden.
