So, I had a hospital visit on Friday. Been on the waiting list since being referred by my optician back in November of last year. I have always, at least for as long as I can remember, had my top eyelashes growing straight down, I'm always looking through them. Well it turns out that they are starting to grow in towards my eyes and can occasionally be felt.

Well, it turns out that I have a syndrome..... Droopy Eyelid Syndrome... My eyelids have effectively become delaminated and this has allowed the outer skin layer to slide forward and as such have rotated my eyelashes down and inwards.

As a result I am now being scheduled for a double eyelid lift.... Something that will be done as an outpatient procedure under a local anaesthetic... Can't say that I am looking forward to that part, but it'll be nice to be not looking through my eyelashes all the time.

Good to hear they've found a solution, hope it goes well when you get to it

Yeah @Almightyrastus hope everything goes smoothly.

I do however think 'Droopy Eyelid Syndrome' is in no way expressive enough for what it is.

It's a bit like calling appendicitis a case of 'bad tummy tum'

Sounds unpleasant, but overall not a bad result?

Thanks guys, I am certainly looking forward to not having my eyeballs tickled by my eyelashes and kinda looking forward to the whole procedure in a strange "it'll be a new experience" sort of way. Just a little apprehensive about being awake through all the eyelid slicing and the stitching...

Got lasagna ready next to the oven. Did some tasks while waiting for oven to heat up. Half an hour later, wondered why alarm hadn't gone off to tell me lasagne was ready. Found lasagne next to oven where I left it.

Suppose I can at least do some miniature modelling stuff and listen to another episode of It's Always Sunny in the meantime.

For several months the only thing that has really been doing my head in is our solicitor.

Absolutely not proactive in the slightest.

Still, inching closer to a purchase and we're dragging her along as we go.

It has to happen as rates are stupid now plus if we are much longer renting here I will literally lose my mind.

At least you didn't come down to find a charcoal object shaped like a lasagne in the oven.

It shouldn’t be so hard to switch my WhatsApp account from one phone to another.

I haven't had to do this recently, but my wife has, and it was pretty much seamless for her (and for me when I last did it).

Were either of you switching from iPhone to Android though?

iPhone to iPhone is easy: everything is backed up to iCloud, so the entire history of everything gets restored from iCloud when signing in with a new iPhone.

Android to Android is easy: everything is backed up to Google Drive, so the entire history of everything gets restored from Google Drive when signing in with a new Android phone.

But iPhone to Android, or vice-versa, however…? Bloody nightmare if you want to keep chat history & media.

There’s a “Transfer History” feature within the application itself, which uses a local WiFi connection to transfer data between the two phones. I can prepare the backup on the iPhone, no problem, and then you have to scan a QR code generated by the target phone. But when I open WhatsApp on the target Android phone, I have no option to generate a QR code to migrate the account to it. All I can do is give it my phone number, which starts the process of registering the Android phone as the primary device for the account. Once you have registered a new device as the primary, you can no longer transfer the chat history from a previous device.

I can do a manual export, but you have to do that one chat at a time. And I have 2.2gb of WhatsApp data across 7-10 years worth of chats - that will take ages to do one by one.

Yup so long as you have backed it up it should be seamless, switch my daughter from samsung to Iphone no problem, you probably just missed a step,

Yes, it turns out I was missing a step that wasn’t in the instructions and wasn’t prompted on either device.

Not only do both devices need to be on the same WiFi network to start with, but they also both need to have a valid cellular connection.

Without a valid cellular connection, the process failed every time. Either the old device would be logged out part-way through the process, or the two simply refused to connect to each other.

Good thing I had a valid and active data-only SIM spare.

RAM Prices, thought I would upgrade my AI workstation to the new one that launches this month, can't be that much of a bump to go from 128 to 192Gb as the hardware is fundamentally the same AMD love a rebrand, old **** new name, bar extra 100mhz clock......how about 6.7k, I'll pass :eeek:
