Just got into the office coming in straight from the dentist. Got myself all wound up expecting an extraction or root canal to find out that today's visit was for 3 fillings. Could only get 2 done as one took a long time and apparently bled a lot. On a hell of an adrenaline come down now that this part is over, the left half of my face is numb - a nerve block was applied for my lower jaw that turned out to not be needed this time, got the packing out so no longer dribbling everywhere. Now just to look forward to the extraction that I thought was today, that will be on the 25th, hopefully I don't get another abscess before then... We might also be able to do the other filling on that day too, the "fun" there being that the extraction is on one side and the filling will be the other. At least it'll be like the old joke - How do you tell when the stage is level? The drummer dribbles out both sides of his mouth...
Yesterday, a mug I had ordered arrived. A large, handmade, lovely quality mug, from a one-man-band pottery on Etsy. I was really pleased with it and, it cost £36. Today, it has a 4cm crack, after I managed to smack it on a kitchen sink tap… Arse!
Philip's Hue. Why oh why oh why does a simple bridge that only needs to control a few lamps need 20+ minutes of updates before I can use it
Wrong you are not. 45 minutes to get 2 lights working, after faffing about with the bridge not connecting, not updating and generally being a dick
What irritates me is 'smart' [thing] that will not or can not do the [thing] unless the 'smart' is enabled and working.
Put up a couple of shelves in the spare room for Lego. They're ever so slightly on the piss and one is a few mm higher than the other. You can't really notice it from far away, but it's all I can see every time I look at them. [angry sotto voce muttering...]
It's not too bad, most of the house is on the piss as well, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If it was my house, I would have done so a long time ago. Strip out all the existing plasterboard in most of the rooms and re-do the whole damn lot. SO many goddamn holes in the walls where previous tenants have put stuff up and then ripped it out...
Lol, I hear you. Our (soon to be sold hopefully) house is over a hundred years old so if you put anything in it remotely level or straight lined then it looks anything but level or straight lined That's a quote directly from Dan's Big Book of Excuses: Part 3.
Today I went for another skip run in the land rover, there was a cyclist on the pavement approaching a pedestrian crossing so I was slowing and watching to see if he'd cut across it, but he didn't. Then some ****wit reversed hard off his drive, completely blocking the pavement and forcing the cyclist to swerve head on into my lane. No way was the 1900kg historic vehicle stopping that quickly, I had to cut across into the oncoming lane, had there been a car there that wouldn't have been an option I mean, the young lad shouldn't have been cycling on the pavement, but that driver really should have proceeded far more slowly, and not in reverse so they actually had a chance to see. Could easily have been a very different story, that road is often a lot busier.
I think it was only by merit of me having already slowed down in anticipation of him using the crossing, had that crossing not been there I'd have been doing 30 mph, leaf sprung landies don't like manoeuvring at those speeds.
Story of my life! I think it's more to do with the way the shelves "clamp" in place as I have several of the same type, and despite some very OCD preparation beforehand, the same happens to me. The only solution I've found is to loosen up the shelf a little, so it at least can sit kinda right. Or use one big shelf...
Well there's your my problem, no wonder NAS went into fans are now jet engines hot hot hot panic mode Faulty sensor, IPMI says -28C. Bit of fan tweaking later the thing is quiet as usual
TBH I didn’t really want “floating” shelves, I knew they would be a pain in the arse to line up correctly and to ensure they’re straight and level. But there weren’t really many other options at B&Q when I was there a few months ago. I could have built/designed my own, but I was only really interested in clearing some space on my rack shelving - didn’t have the patience for that much faff. Still, does the job I needed it to, even if they’re not really deep enough for Discovery’s wings!
