Amazon's running an offer: if you had an Amazon-branded Mastercard back in the day (I did, when it was with NewDay), you can sign up for the new Amazon-branded Barclaycard and get a £50 gift voucher and 2% cashback on all Amazon purchases for six months (4% on Prime Day) - which would stack with the 1% I get from Curve.

Yeah, g'wan then. Ridiculous APR, but I have no intention of paying interest.

Went through the application process, filled in all the details: rejected. No idea why, my credit rating is "excellent" on every service.

Waste of time, and now Amazon and Barclaycard have a bunch of my personal information and I get bupkis.

Wonder if they know that I've never paid credit card interest in my life, and would have been a deeply unprofitable account for 'em?

Just got the 8th bone fragment out of my tooth socket after an extraction 3 weeks ago... Hopefully this means that the socket and surrounding gums will now start to calm down and heal up properly...

Partner got a new job after 9 years in her previous, gradually the place had been going down the shitter. No management ever really, when they decide to show up they're about as useful as a fart in an elevator. For a good year up to the point of leaving she'd be constantly short staffed to the point it was unmanageable and would make her regularly unwell. Coming home stressed and frustrated was a daily occurrence.

She's gone to leave multiple times and got cold feet at the last moment so was really shocked when she actually threw the towel in and said enough was enough.

Two days into new job "I'm not sure I'm keen on being here, Its really boring, we've got too many staff on.... I'm just bored"

    Wait what...

Thoroughly. The tooth really did not want to come out as one of the roots was curved locking it into the socket. We had to take 5 breaks during it just so the dentist could get some feeling back in his hand. Unfortunately this means that the really thin edges of the bone socket took some damage in the process so the bits have been working their way out. A couple took a little helping as they were 5-6mm long pieces, but I think we are getting there now.

Spent ages researching the server, finding the right balance or performance and expansion, found a cheap one, received it and confirmed all is good.. Run up Proxmox and even confirmed all the Bifurcation is working as intended..and.... I don't really have any desire to actually use it....

Now do I sell it or keep it mothballed for future use.

I think the biggest issue for me is, because I got it for a good price, anything I "invest" into it (10Gb networking, SSD's etc) is a significant portion of the upfront cost (in the case of a 1.6TB Intel DC Drive is actually more than 100% of the cost..).

Plus I would need to move the entire room around to accommodate it in proper rack.

Now I knew all of this going in, so why am I only now questioning it... why?!

I hate my brain at times. :grr:

    Piddling sodding weather !

Doing a many stage paint job is stressful enough at the best of bloody times. Got the frame all done yesterday which took several hours, went on a mission today to do the bars and fork.

Got to the Chromacoat stage, started raining. Still, had it been when doing the clear coat I would have been really buggered because it only lasts about 12 hours once you activate it.

    Evri doing Evri things.
3pm yesterday - "Your parcel was delayed"
(TL;DR - Either we forgot to put it on the van, or we lied about having it in the first place!) :wallbash:

EDIT - Parcel finally arrived at 11:30am today.

Finally found some time to assemble a Seiko mod watch last night. I've done a few now for myself, nice and reliable movement and a reasonable quality watch for not much money.

After buggering two sets of dial hands and realising somehow in the process I marked the dial itself I just gave it up as a bad job for now.

New dial ordered, more hands ordered and then swiftly cancelled all other movements/case combos I had ordered for further projects.

    Not worth the hassle.

14 and 28 makes my 6 and 12 feel unmanly and like it needs replacing, even though it was itself replacing a six-six situation..

If your 6C/12T CPU is in any way modern - i.e. released in the last 5-6 years - you’re fine. The IPC and clock speed of a modern chip will spank this 8 year-old Xeon in gaming workloads .
