Guy at work came and told me about a bargain car he saw. £1100. It's a bargain because he saw the same car on the forecourt of a local garage for £3000 just a couple of weeks earlier.

Told him this means something is wrong with it. Maybe they sold it and came back with a major fault and they've off-loaded it and cut their losses.

    He bought it.

The alarm kept going off. And the battery wouldn't hold a charge. Then he registered it and immediately got a speeding ticket from the Birmingham area, followed by a parking ticket for the same area. Sure enough, the photos show a similar looking car or the same model with his registration plate. He's never been north of the M4.

    So, yeah, cloned plate.

Rather than deal with it, he scrapped the car and blew £1000.

    This was last week.

He just told me he's looking at a cheap car he's seen locally...

I used to work with a guy who was just the same. Fancied himself as a proper Delboy, always after a deal, always ended up losing out in some way. Continually blamed it all on bad luck, never on continual bad decisions.

When we got our two cats from Allerton Cat Rescue, we were told two facts: "they get on really well together," and "they've been checked by a vet and given a full bill of health."

We already had to give one of 'em back 'cos he kept attacking the other, proving the first statement false.

We took the remaining cat to the vets for a check-up and to get sorted ready for booster vaccinations. Dodgy teeth, one needs to come out immediately - and there are lesions in her mouth, you'll need a biopsy. £500.

No problem, I've got insurance - and it covers dental! All I need is a report from the previous vet saying her teeth were fine when last checked!

...yeah, the report clearly says that her teeth were bad. Pre-existing condition, no coverage for you.

The biopsy is back and, thankfully, it's not cancerous - just contact lesions. However, their recommendation is to remove a further eight teeth. Should cost a cool grand, all told.

    <sigh>

    Tried decaf coffee.

In decaffeinated coffee, I taste the futility of mankind’s struggle against the inevitable entropy of the universe.

I drink coffee, I drink energy drinks, I vape, I’m over 40, I take stimulant medication, and I’m overweight: none of these things are good for blood pressure .

I’ve got to cut some of this crap somewhere, and cutting down just isn’t working for me… I’ve had this sorry bag of decaf coffee-flavoured soil for a week, so I thought I should at least try it…

I don't understand decaf tea or coffee like I don't understand alcohol free beer.

Mind you I don't really ever drink booze now so I allow myself vape and caffeine. My body says I can't have gluten so I'm fighting back in my own way

True, I don't have stimulant medication - bet that has to be something to keep an eye on.

I drink decaf tea from mid afternoon onwards each day, otherwise I have trouble sleeping. JD Miles loose decaf, is much nicer than the mainstream brands in the supermarkets. Earlier in the day I drink coffee or Assam tea.

Never said I liked it :thumb:

I should be so lucky. The battery on my work laptop lasts all day and it can charge from any Type-C adapter with a minimum of 60W… which means basically any half-decent Type-C charger…

Well it gave me 3 hours of use before dropping to 5%, and none of my chargers or power banks pack enough umph to get it charging.
Oh woe is me, I'll have to keep an eye on my emails but there's not a lot else I can do. :thumb:

Yep, same here - I am a heavy tea drinker but I switch to decaf at midday. It makes a massive difference to the quality of my sleep. Can't say that I notice any difference in taste between caffeinated and decaf.

I'm not sure there's really much to understand, tbh - sometimes you want the taste without the side-effects...

Can't comment on decaf, as I don't drink coffee and tea irregularly.

    Alcohol free beer?

Yes, it's not the same as real bear but I'm drinking it fairly regularly.

Think of it as a non tooth destroying sweetener free soft drink and it's a great companion when I'm driving or alternating with actual beer.

I'm a lightweight so never been a big drinker, having something that isn't sweet or tastes awful is a definite win.

A Becks mixed with a Becks Blue alcohol free beer makes a longer drink as most AF beers come in 330ml cans.

Only one bar locally does Lucky Saint on draft, and gets you a full pint.
One of the other bars charges you 80% of the cost of a pint for a half pint bottle of AF beer, b@sdtards, I try to avoid them these days.

    Aaand breathe!

Alcohol free beer was the only beer to give me a headache. I imagine they've improved by now but the irony was glorious.
