Just leave it attached to charger and it will always have charge when you want to use it? Sounds like you don't need it though if you go that long without using it, blimey I'm not sure if my family have a hand at the end of their arms as there is always an iPad there, so clearly it's new GPU time for you
Oh I don’t need it, not at all. Just like I don’t need a laptop, an iPad, a gaming PC, a lightweight lounge gaming PC, a Steam Deck, etc. But I want them, and why worry about such trivial distinctions as the difference between want and need? I’m almost certainly going to sell the iPad to CeX, I think. I have a 2nd gen Apple Pencil as well, for which I still have all the original packaging and spare nibs. That’s about £60 cash at CeX, so this pair alone should net me around £400. Normally I wouldn’t count on getting any kind of value from CeX at all, but it’s a different ball game when it comes to Apple kit.
Apparently it’s “too bent” for them to accept. I’ve never noticed and it’s lived in a case - and a protective slip cover - for the entire time I’ve owned it. So if it’s “bent” then it was bloody well bent when I bought it from that same store two years ago. You may have to zoom in to see the very slight warp. The only thing that’s bent* here is CeX, bunch of unscrupulous bastards. **** ‘em, someone from this wonderful community can buy it instead - at least people here aren’t gonna immediately sell it for a £260 profit**. *That’s “bent” as in “bent copper”, not a homophobic slur **Well, most of you probably wouldn’t, and even if you did it’s not my problem any more
I've currently got an issue accessing SSRS report builder through my current work issue windows 11 laptop. The IT guy looking into the issue has suggested I try accessing through the old windows 10 laptop that I still have, try to narrow down where the issue is. Its been switched off for quite a while, as everything so far had worked. It will not accept my current password. It will not accept my previous password. I cannot remember any passwords from further back.
My laptop. Or, more accurately, my stupid power settings. I depleted my powerbank, yesterday lunchtime, charging up my laptop. Naturally, when I got home, I forgot to charge up my power bank. Not a problem, the laptop battery is almost fully charged and will last a few lunchtimes before I have to charge it again. Nope. When I shutdown my laptop, I pressed the power button, which I always do. This is set to power it down and not put it into sleep mode, but I didn't change the power button setting for when it is plugged in to the mains. It never occurred to me that the laptop would see the FULLY DEPLETED power bank as a mains connection and therefore only put the laptop into a light sleep mode when I pressed the power button. So, lunchtime arrives, I fire up the laptop and see 15% battery remaining. FML.
Mattresses. Found some we liked only to discover the wonderful world of every-shop-uses-a-different-name-for-the-same-mattress-thats-not-the-same-on-the-manufacturer-website-so-they-can-all-have-the-guatanteed-lowest-price... It's worse than looking at monitor model numbers
Finish Powerballs, Somehow worse than Lidl's cheap dishwasher tablets. I loaded the dishwasher, put a tab in, set it for an hour and 30 min cycle, and turn it on. Hour and 30 mins later, I hear the distinctive 'Cycle Complete' beeps, Open the dishwasher to find the tablet had hardly dissolved. I'll be grabbing some Fairy Gel pods again, because those worked flawlessly. Sam
Tesco's own lemon one's do a bangin' job, add it with their own dishwasher salt and I can put burnt on glassware in on an ecowash and it comes out gleaming.
Following on from the posts in WRYLRN, back to the hospital this morning for ultrasound and more blood tests, which revealed...... Nothing! No gallstones apparent, gallbladder lining not inflamed, liver not fatty, no swelling, no sign of damaged (god knows how), blood work still show all the signs of someone relatively healthy. This is fantastic news, but doesn't explain where the searing pain was from. My spleen was a smidge larger than "normal", but the wrong side for pain source. So, theory is it's an ulcer that's either in or irritating the duodenum. The peptide pump pills to reduce stomach acid and reduced fat diet have curtailed things enough that no surgery is required, but if I start getting pains again then need to get docs referral for camera swallowing, or if I vomit I need to go a&e, but I kinda knew that anyway. And I was happy with that, this was originally written in WCMYLA, no surgery to cause yet more damage was a win for me. But sat writing this got me pondering; so why the hell was I in so much pain? My pain scale is practically logarithmic with all the crap I've done or had done, and this was pretty frickin high on that scale, can ulcers really be that bad? And then as I'm reading through the NHS page on pectic ulcers, something my mum said that I thought was odd (prescribing anti-biotics for ulcers) was actually in the material. Ulcers are often caused by a certain bacteria that eats your stomach lining, thinning it enough for the acid to damage it and cause ulcers, there is a non invasive test for that, but I never did it, nor have I been prescribed antibiotics incase that's the cause. I had not been well in the week leading up to episode of extreme pain no.1. Everything was passing pretty much straight through me, felt sick a lot generally feeling shitty (no pun intended), so could this not be that infection. Now I'm not sure what to think. Or do. Doctors probably just refer me straight back to hospital, but to be put on camera waiting list unless it all kicks off again and I end up in a&e. Again. It's my fault really, all I cared about was that I wouldn't have to have surgery again and didn't ask more questions, or any really. Sad and confused now
You know it's chilly in the office when your eight-core 16-thread ~100W CPU is ticking over at 25°C on the stock air cooler...
Frustration of trying to help your mum over the phone get her photos off her mobile to send in an email. How she ended up with archived zip files I have no idea. She tends to panic like she's broken the interwebs and does random things rather than listen...
Completely forgetting that you have basically an entire computer sat in a storage box on a shelf because you long ago abandoned the project you had in mind for it... MiniITX thin, RAM, 4th gen i5, and an mSATA SSD... Not the most powerful system obviously, but it'll sure as hell do for a local-only Plex box. What I was actually checking was how many spare small SATA SSDs I had.... And I have a 1TB SATA SSD sat there doing nothing.... I thought I'd got over my hoarding of PC parts, but clearly not!
I've driven the kids up to Bristol to see my sister, 3½ hours in the car for less than 80 miles because the roads are awful. During this time, Laura has tripped the electrics to the whole house, broken the hoover, and cut her shin so badly it might need stitches. The kids have been awful going to bed (always are away from home) and I'm completely done in. My sister and her husband are in bed as they have a young baby. Why does this only qualify as meh? I'm drinking the emergency whisky from the first aid kit
Nice find bad crash on m4 and it was closed down as people died, so roads then go a bit mental, missus went out to pick up something quick and easy for lunch and was stuck in traffic on ring road for over a hour and half, normally a 15 min trip.
Auction tomorrow, the mother load of vintage games available commodore/sega stuff mainly. This could go either way… I’ve had it before where presumed good stuff sells for £2-£3. While £20 worth of big standard games are rocketing into the £100+ mark for no justifiable reason. Either I’m making a ok profit or massively overspending…
Yeah, they don't tend to close the M4, even in one direction, unless there's been a fatal accident.... The retro community is fickle, assume the worst ROI possible. Even pristine boxed games with their 30 year old shrinkwrap intact could turn out to be utterly worthless if the floppies have degraded to the point where they can't be read. Honestly the real value in retro is the hardware itself, especially if you are prepared to thoroughly clean and refurbish stuff. No matter what the system is, there are always HDD loaders, CF/SD card interfaces, etc. Having said that... people will pay staggering sums of money for games, so... Hard to say really!
Boss is off on holiday for 2 weeks, I have only been doing this job since May, I am no way ready to cover 10% of what he does, I hope people don't think I know what I'm doing! I have support in his absence, in America...... This is gonna be fun
If you got this, and if there's a C64 disk copy of Galdregon's Domain in there, can I have first refusal? I lost my copy years ago - I've still got the case, but the disk's nowhere to be found.
