Methinks chrimbo is time for a long awaited upgrade, can someone shed some light on what would be the best solution for under £300
It's gotta be an AthlonXP and an Asus A7V-266 E (note the E, very important. Means it's the new 266a chipset instead of the original 266, which wasn't as good). But don't buy from Dabs...
Check out these reviews.....here and here I just ordered an Epox EP- 8KHA+ to go with a xp1700 what a board steady as a rock and great for overclocking....just look at the figures...as someone who WAS a headcase for Abit i think they need to start looking over their shoulders cus Epox is deff closing fast if not overtaking them. *LSN*DD [mental] http://www.lesoleilnoir.com [red]"In life the firmist of friends....first to welcome formost to defend"[/red]
With regards to the Epox, one just landed on my metaphorical doorstep, so look for the First Look in a few days
Mine has just this second arrived....complete with xp1700, Thermalright SK6 and fan and 2x 256mb crucial ram sticks. I was told not to use the registered ram btw. I will let u know how it goes....of to build now.
about £320 good deal from overclockers It was last weeks special i think this week its an xp1500 but they still give a very good deal.
YES DON'T BUY FROM THEM THEY ARE MUPPETS glad i got that off my chest...... Seriosuly Bob, Asus A7V266-E RAID , Crucial DDR and an Athlon XP will be very nice.....that be what i'm getting!
That Epox 8KHA+ is a great little board for its money. With an Athlon XP Chip you'll be happy as Larry, so they say!
