well i have been offered a gtx295 at not a bad price. Oh and i should explain that i have £200 to spend at the moment and then another plus my case will be up for sale along with my 8800gtx(if i get this gtx295). Then maybe i can think about a decent sized monitor after?

Not if it was only 1920x1200, which would give the large size he wants as well as much higher pixel density than he currently has.

I'm still using a dell 2405FPW so I'm not in the best position to judge new monitors. I am glad to see you didn't plump for a GTX460 as I'm pretty sure I read in CPC recently about CPU bottlenecks limiting new GPU's ability to increase frame rates.

All in all, I would just be looking for a decent 1920x1200 24" and take some advice from the guys/girls on the forum. Stay clear of mine though as it has no HDMI inputs.

Last I heard, the more upto date versions of the 2405 are supposed to be quite good, no?

Ahh, well that's solved the GPU solution!

Monitor wise, I agree with ataraxis84.

Yeah, the standard is a 1920x1200 24'', but if your budget stretch beyond the cheaper TN panels, I say don't be afraid of larger 1920x1200 screens if you're sitting miles away from it - and from what you said it sounds like you are.

You won't see the benefit of the pixel density if you're 4ft+ away because you're using a wheel setup etc, so take a look at some of the 27'' 1920x1200 offerings. They're not what usually gets recommended around here, but if you're sitting further away and only using it for gaming I think a larger screen would suit your needs better.

Thanks for your help guys.Im going to look into a few monitors and see what i come up with. Yeah i dont think i could go back down to a 24" to be honest. At one stage i was thinking of maybe getting a projector but they are just to darn expensive at the moment. See the thing is i need the screen to be big so i can get as close as possible to a view from a real car as im building a racing cockpit at the moment. So i think maybe a 27" is the way to go...Hmmm desicions desicions
