I'm at my wits end now. I can't take it anymore, I broke my 2.3krpm fan with a drum stick and replaced it with an antec that was lying around the house which operates at 2.7-2.8k according to my mobo. I really can't take it. It was bad enough at 2.3k but it's just soooooooooooo loud. I can't replace my cooler as I just can't buy anymore as I'm on socket A which by the looks of things never had any decent big tall tower coolers which could operate big fans at slow speeds. So instead of taking my drum stick to my new fan ON PURPOSE (lol) I'm considering a fan controller, my CPU doesn't reach 40C on load with my current fan and I'd be willing to deal with more heat for quieter noise. My fan uses a 3 pin connector and I could hook up my entire case to it for $£&%'s and giggles but it's not really required of a Coolermaster HAF932. So what makes a good fan controller and what should I look for? I have 1 free 3.5" external bay and 4 free 5.25" bays that will never get filled. I don't need a card reader combo, I don't need more USB's as I already have 4 on my case and I'd like it to be quite cheap. I would be willing to spend £20~ but I don't know which are good and which aren't. Please help me And BTW I sleep with this computer in my room so you can imagine how much I need a solution T_T EDIT: I found this this and would stretch to it if anyone has it and can recommend it? It's expensive but looks nice, has nobs and would make my computer seem more l33t than it already isn't XD
Back when i was running Socket A gear, the best cooler i found that could cool and be quiet was the Zalman CNPS7000A, believe me i bought alot of coolers! The akasa carnival was an awesome cooler but only good if your deaf. This was all before heatpipes made the leap from laptops to PC's so big coolers weren't around so water cooling ruled supreme. Short of grabing a zalman fan mate, the cheapest option, or my personal choice get a sunbeam fan controller, as there capable of alot of ampage in each channel.
How about a 80mm -> 120mm fan adapter/converter?? Could take your pick of any 120mm fan on the market. I'm assuming your current HSF setup uses an 80mm?
I've been told about them but what happens if I have this problem again somewhere down the line? That's why I was considering fan controllers, because I could carry them from build to build you see.
Well, i would imagine an 80mm -> 120mm fan converter isn't going to break the bank. If and when you do upgrade, you'll have a nice 120mm fan to go in your new case. Nothing wasted
lol cheers, now I'm -1999 I ordered a Scythe Kaze Q for £4.62 as you can see here http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?p=2062028#post2062028 If anyone needs a fan controller or wants one for the hell of it for under £5 (inc deliver ) you can't go wrong Also Fazed I already have my case for my new build right now, using a HAF932 so the 12cm would be wasted
