    Upgrades...

Is it worth the money to upgrade, from my current set up to a new board and cpu ....
    current 790i & Q6850 with 4gb ram... (win 7 64bit)
I estimated it to cost about £580ish to set up a new x58 and 920DO (for example.)

Has your gaming/computing experience been enhanced dramatically enough to warrant the £'s spent in upgrading

I am really just asking as I dont know anyone who has an unbiased opinion (mostly Ive just enquired to retailers who just try sell me a new one and say its the dogs ....etc)

Gaming would be much more influenced by the GPU; however there is not much choice at the moment when it comes to high-end GPUs. But an overclocked i7 920 would give you a few extra fps.

As for general computing, it depends what that includes. if it's web browsing etc. probably not. However, if you do serious video editing, encoding, rendering PS etc. then it would be noticeably quicker. Hope that helped.
