http://www.newsnow.co.uk/ can be quite good as it trawls alot of other sites and is pretty up to date.

Also use the reg, inq and of course bit tech.

I just read about all the features in a product when I'm going to upgrade. I use newegg (the best source for PC parts in the USA) to learn as much as I can, then google for a couple reviews and to check compatiability.

That's becuase the thread starter stated he wanted hardware review/news sites, not general geek news.

And if you use Digg for any serious news, then you should be shot.

Uhhh, alot of serious news comes across digg. Pretty much anything that is on slashdot is on digg, only about 3-4 days earlier. You just have to read through most of the junk posted.

Btw, do you see news right up there? I sure do..

Virtually no serious news comes from Digg, it's just a huge link dump.

Bit-tech, slashdot, and then google RSS and Yahoo RSS both in their sci/tech modes. The inquirer also sometimes, not the register, 'cos they didn't stop bashing wikipedia for a while a few months back.

If I want a specific review I just google it, I see no point in going round 30 different hardware sites looking for the bit, there are so many bits of PC hardware, and so many hardware sites, that google is just the quickest way for specifics.

    Only if I am too.

I subscribe to MaxPC, but only because I like reading it; I take the reviews with a grain of salt, and am well aware that they're dated by the time I get it. I read /. and bit for news, and read most of Bit's reviews regardless but google around if it's something I actually want. I try and avoid THG though, as they're really poor quality, even if they're the only option. I don't really care for [H] either, but moreso because of their general forum conduct and not quality the of their reviews.

Oh yeah, OCC too. Not a ton of content, but they're great at actually linking to all the latest reviews. I won a few of their case badges too... gotta love figuring out what TGBIHBIT (maybe third letter wasn't a B, was the first initial of a new staffer at the time, but you get the point) means and getting a badge.

    Lets see:

    overclockers.com
    bit-tech.net
    tomshardware.com
    extremetech.com
    anandtech.com
    silentpcreview.com

I like tomshardware, I think they have pretty good psu, mobo, and hdd reviews.

Mainly the inq for news, a lot of it is speculation and leaks so not a good idea to trust everything on there but it is constantly updated with news and stuff and is never normally far wrong. I also like its style, it's pretty laid back and doesn't take itself too seriously - something sites like THG are missing!

Bit-Tech news is normally ok, but it appears to be very selective on the stories it shows and some of the stuff is a few days behind what you may read elsewhere. Can't be beaten on its reviews though, they are always well worth a read even if you're not interested in what it is being reviewed!!
