I'm what you could call quite heavily tattoo'd ...both arms...The best advice I can give you is to try and stay with traditional stuff thats pretty much timeless, try to avoid the trendy here and now stuff, in 5 years times thing will change like and you've said you're stuck with it for the rest off you're life...And avoid girls names at any cost!
I know you've already said it has the least reasoning, but a star of Chaos is a strange tattoo choice. If you're really into having some symbolism and meaning to your tattoo then try to really look at it as deeply as you can, and as lightly as you can, and see anything wrong with it. Chaos is a very dynamic thing, both in definition and in the Warhammer universe. Tzeench especially being a prime example. Having a static tattoo of Chaos on you for the rest of your life is in total contradiction to this. Following the idea of dyanamic vs. static tattoo: religious beliefs aren't something that are guaranteed to remain the same. Be wary of tattooing them on to your body, you might regret it if you come to believe in some religion farther down the line. At best you could claim that it's a representation of who you once were, but there might still be some regret. Things you can pretty well place on your body and remain the same meaning would be music. Aside from Death being musical bliss, it will always be there. You will always have enjoyed their music and you probably always will and if it's something which has really shaped your life then that will always be there as well. Following that logic, even the Goron symbol will always be there for you, or the Triforce. tl;dr? The scythe from Death's name would look pretty good on a shoulder or something. Keeps it simple, it's just a scythe when you want to be more mundane, it's a band when you want to bring in some meaning.
A question about the chaos symbol though... Would having a static symbol of chaos not be going against the natural order of chaos itself, in which case, technically be its own form of chaos? The cross of confusion isn't technically declaring any religion though, it is merely a symbol that stands to question religion. One of the main reasons I want this one is because growing up, I was raised Catholic(I even went to a Catholic school until 6th grade), and I no longer feel any connection with that life. Also, I am a fairly logical thinker I guess, and I really can not see myself getting back into the religious lifestyle. At the least with the cross though I can say its DevilDriver's symbol. I see what you mean with the music/game related tattoos always keeping their meaning, which is why I have been leaning the most towards getting those ones first, as I feel like I would have the least tendency to change my mind on those ones, I don't really see myself regretting getting any of the others though, as I have been thinking about doing this for quite some time.
Get something thats symbolic to you. Personly I have a grim reaper on my arm as my first tat, for a number or reasons, to remind me that death is always around not matter what you do its there and to like life to the fullest every day. and as a sort or memoral as in my last year of 6th for 3 people i knew fairly well passed away for different reasons
^ This. I'm not a tattoo fan - if I was going to have something etched into my skin for life, I'd want da Vinchi doing it, not some pissed Hell's Angel - but the best thing to bear in mind is the above. People aren't interested in why you have the tattoo, just that it's visible. Sounds like you've already made your mind up, so fair enough.
why did so many people ignore the original question and turn it into should i get one or not...i thought i had established at the beginning that i was going to get one by not having "none" as one of the options i was asking about... oh well. thank you to those of you that actually gave input about what i actually asked.
