Rant What the deuce happened to these forums! O_o

So..... whats with the coloring book thread tags and ugly colors! I hate it! Change is BAD BAD BAD!!!

I loved the thread tags, they were so unique.. and now they are ugly and non-original... and the main fourms hub is gross... this whole thing feels all wrong! Did Tim die or something?! Did the alien overlords come and delete the awesomeness that was this fourms layout?!



Please alien overlords, return our threads or teach me Braille...

 

I kind of agree.
I don't hate the new layout though, but I don't love it either. In my mind, and to my eyes, the previous layout was the better one. This new one looks ... washed out somehow, like a t-shirt that's been washed so many times that it's front print has faded, or like the paint on a car that's been sitting in the african sun for the last 15 years.

But, I guess I'll adapt.

That'd explain it a little bit better.
While I agree some things could do with improvement (I for one think there is too much blue and that the "dark" theme needs to be a few shades deeper) constructive feedback in the thread tied to that would probably be the best way of venting if you specifically don't like something

Also try suggesting how it could be improved as I'm sure saying why you don't like it would be appreciated.

 

I don't mind the new layout but the colours are a bit garish and I miss the little pictures rather than just blocks of colour for the thread tags.

When I first saw this yesterday I thought I had broken the forums... as I had just come from the new Hotmail layout

There was a public beta open for TWO MONTHs that you could have joined and put your 2p into. We took on the opinions of about 50 forum users who decided to take the time to test it to death and weigh in what they liked and disliked. Everyone's opinion was evenly weighed up and put into the pot - I didn't even get things that I wanted because I was outvoted by forumites being staff made no difference.

These people specifically complained about the tags, the theme, the design and it was simplified accordingly. The colours have ALWAYS been there - it's exactly the same. In fact they too were changed in co-ordination with a democratic agreement in the beta.

Things will be tweaked with regards to new themes and colours, but it won't happen overnight - the public beta took 2 months to iron out.

Anyway, closing this because there's another thread about it. FYI: If you moan, we ignore you, if you constructively contribute we take your opinion on board and put it into the hat of others but remember your voice weighs no more than any other, even staff, that's how we keep things fair.
