So, it seems after years of operation, Microsoft has decided to get quite a few accounts to **** the bed on Hotmail, with no provocation. Both of my accounts don't have inboxes, and can't be signed into. This is wonderful, considering I need access to data in there. Any ideas on what to do guys?
Wow, what the hell? Just noticed the same thing for me, but thankfully I have been running everything through my blackberry, so I've got it all backed up, but saying that I did still get all my e-mails from today... So either this has just started, or whatever's going to my blackberry is bypassing hotmail (even though it is a hotmail account)... Going through the sign up thing now, seeing if I can get my old e-mail back... Haven't had it for the past 12 years for nothing. [EDIT] Alrighty, just sent myself an e-mail to my hotmail account (which doesn't have an inbox), and I received it no problem on my blackberry, but yet I still cannot access my mailbox online through windows live... I am majorly confused. And it says I cannot sign up for an account as my account name is used (duh!), but yet that is still the only way to setup a mail box, is to sign up for a new account...
Yep. Whatever slobbering retard is wandering around the server room seems to have shot the DB server containing a few thousand people's data.
Seriously, you think any one of them is not a slobbering retard? I'm fairly certain that in the P&P they make you sign down at hotmail HR, it is a requirement to hit yourself square between the eyes with a mallet, while downing a 40oz of gin every morning before you come into work. I just assume that's how it works anyways...
Yup.. my hotmail is dead too, I can't even login, it just redirects me to the Hotmail signin page. Real pissed off right now. Ninja-edit: Tried submitting a support request "Our support center is currently unavailable." .... Great.. MSN doesn't work, and nor does my XboXLive account.. really pissed off right now
How strange, as it let me send a long-winded feedback without issue just a few minutes ago, along with my MSN and xbox working fine. They may be upgrading in sections then (like a per-server type thing), and we just happen to be seeing the beginning of what is to come (hence why their DB isn't working properly, and people are having issues with select services). Or maybe somebody has just stumbled over a power cord... My best guess anyway.
as ever hotmail seems to hate my account, takes about 4 attempts at logging in to actually get to my account, keeps saying my password is wrong when it clearly isnt!! annoyance ensues
Zing! And I'm pretty sure you don't get a job in a Microsoft server room by being a 'slobbering idiot', despite popular opinion. Just because all the Linuxheads and Macheads say it's cool to hate Microsoft doesn't necessarily make it so, children. Hotmail may have lost out in popularity and its featureset compared to gmail in the past few years but it's been damn reliable in the 11 years that I've been using it. A little bit of downtime isn't the end of the world, **** happens.
Some days i can't log in at school, it just refreshes the pages, happened lats night at home, though msn messenger was also down... and last week I did get a message saying I had to change in my "login ID" though when I went to do it, it said the service was unavailable... what in the hell are they doing...
If you think it's that bad then why use it?! http://liveside.net/main/archive/2009/04/10/live-id-goes-down-around-the-world-back-now.aspx
Seriously? Neither of you were able to detect any sarcasm in this thread? Really?! I just don't understand that...
Well I wasn't being sarcastic about being perturbed about the thing. Plus it wasn't just the free service that pooped the bed. XBL and the Zune Marketplace are down; both of which are paid for. But hey; at least this could be a lesson to back up the data because you can't trust the purports of your service to do it.
