I've been having problemes with my laptop: from day one it had a problem with the PCMCIA switch that wouldnt stay in. To put it short, the laptop has been back 3 times and has come back WORSE each time after the repairs; thats a total of 4 problems with a laptop bought on april 1st. My question is this: how many times must I have the laptop repaired before I can demand replacement? Its getting ridiculous now, it was bought so I could use it at college but I cant even use it for one day after its "repaired" before it having to go back. heres whats happened so far: * broken PCMCIA button / DVD drive incorrectly stuck on wrong region * after repair of above, screen was scratched (see image 3) * after repair of above, all worked until three days later when backlight stopped working * after repair of above the screen was smashed (in transit?) - see images 1/2 Before each repair I asked for a replacement, even at the beginning, as I've had problems with previous manufacturers and didnt want the same (guess what, thats happend). So how long must I endure all this until I actually have the right to say, thats enough - I dont want any more bull, give me a new one or give me my money back.
Well tbh if it was a tosh, toshiba would demand that they have the laptop back after the 3rd time for them too look at it. Then if they cannot fix it they will either give you a brand new laptop or credit you for one. If i was you i'd demand my money back.... that level of poor engineering annoyes me
thats where the problem lies... each time its a repairable fault, and each time they "fix it" but each time I get it, its broken again. I think their using a dodgy currier service as theres not one marking on the plain brown box the laptop comes back in. They refuse to replace on the grounds that the problem is repairable, but they forget the NUMBER of repairable problems I've had with them.
talk with a lawyer or someone who knows the laws in your area, for example i believe in michigan here we have a no-lemon policy that if something has to go back for repairs four times the manufacturer/retailer/whatever is required to give you a new one. Check to see if anything like this exists in your area.
Sorry to hear that! I would get a second opinion, and make notice of the 'repairs' (like you did, with pictures). Then get an lawyer and see what your legal stand is. I never had that much problems before. I'm sure its most unpleased. You should have demanded a NEW one, or refund from the first time. As it was bad manufactured. Don't have much advice.. just try to get your money back, or a new one. Good luck! but try to get some legal advice. L
