lol @ 'tour'. Why don't you just call it an image map like everyone else? Grump, unless I'm very much mistaken that's the distinctive lower part of the NeXT cube Only one mention of the nibbler, I see?
Thinkpad CD-ROM!?!?!? Will that fit in a 390e??? If so (and assuming it works ), would you be willing to part with it!?
Ok, it is an image map, and this is a 'HTML Encoded Webpage' your are now viewing, not a thread. I don't even know what NeXT Cube is. The stuff at the upper right is the tops off a AT Case, and some plastic grill. (Check this pic :Link ) No, it works on a model 600. (Which is why I am having a hard time getting rid of it) Back to topic...
NeXT was a company Steve Jobs started after he originally got booted from Apple. They made a distinctive cube shaped case that was made out of magnesium... they have some impressive projects at pheaton based on those... they have become a coveted mod box once cold dog started the trend. http://www.blackholeinc.com/specials/blackhardware.shtml a place specializes in selling the old kit at http://www.blackholeinc.com/
lmfao, yea, thanks for that Zap. But since I was asking Grump.... Just curious what he had planned for it. ** I thought everyone knew what NeXT is/was
Opps, oh well. They look cool. An I do use a nibber. Just used it to remove the stamped fan grills on my case.
I was under the impression it's existence was fairly well known. Plus, Cold Dog's NeXT conversion must've cropped up on every modding site at some point or another. Has anyone listed software yet? Design Workshop Lite is a decent CAD package for the grand sum of £0. I'm still dabbling a bit with PCB software and haven't really settled on anything.
assorted screwdrivers needle files bullnose pliers/pliers wire cutters soldering iron solder pump multimeter dremel clone stanley knife etc...
Yes, you're right. Two of those pictures had parts of a NeXT Cube in them -- the backplane (air die grinder pic) and the center section (jigsaw pic). I started it a while ago, but have put it aside to do an addition on my house and completely remodel the existing parts -- kinda like modding my house. Anyway, this is as far as I've gotten: Oh, and Did I ferget this: And here's s'more tools: (heating spray cans in warm water helps them spray better) Grump
Grump, I picked up what looks like that same nibbler from harbor freight today... (central pnuematic)... can't wait to get it home and use it... btw - your garage is waaaaay too clean... makes mine look like a slag heap
my list: Dremel (with drillpreess thing..) never used for any project yet though.. (just got it) lots of screewdrivers my pc... soldering station axe and my dad's tools..
No-one's mentioned it yet, so here goes: White spirit - cheaper than goo gone and usually cheaper than rubbing alchol (well, it is here anyway) and it works better than both of them IMHO. Compresser has to be one of the most useful things around - I'm about to buy one myself - Far better for cleaning as well, as they don't give off static charges like hoovers.. They can make a bit more noise though! Milliput is a useful little bit of stuff - it's a too part resin that when mixed can be molded and set's like concrete without having to be baked. Flat, level work surfaces are quite useful as well. Tim *edit* A pressure washer can be handy as well, I put my side panels outside ready for a lick of paint and some bugger of a bird cvame and crapped all over them - Quick pressure was and voila! Clean as a whistle
Can I use white spirit instead of acetone for removing permanent marker lines from e.g. circuit boards?
Basically, yea but then I had just finished washing something with the pressure washer, so it was just sat there Next trick is to point it at the poxy bloody mole that keeps popping up in the middle of my lawn - let's see how 600 litres of water a minute affects the little bugger shall we? Tim
