Doesn't matter... any will work, provided it has support for your graphics card's interface. If you're buying the PCI-E version, I'd go for an nForce4 motherboard - they have a very rich feature set and are the most popular choice. It would be my personal recommendation. If you're planning on purchasing the AGP - stop! Don't bother with it if you're getting a whole new motherboard
An nVidia graphics card will work with an ATI chipset and vice versa. They are connected using industry-defined standards, so there will be no compatibility issues.
I take it you're going with pci-e. and you wondt prolly be using dual cards (crossfire or sli)... then just select a mobo that supports the slot typ that card needs... I run a ati x850 xt pe on a nf4 mobo (Asus a8n-sli deluxe), so I'd say it wont matter unless you're going to run dual card setups...
orite, thnx tat solves the problem, . and can some1 tell me wot firewire do? well buget, around 60 but i dont need a sli, want sata2 and for an amd processor.
*does--> "A high-speed serial-bus standard that offers enhanced connectivity and data transfer for video, audio and storage peripheral applications through a universal input/output (I/O) interface." - like usb though can be faster but used less often... apple made it and now they are getting rid of it :/
I would recommend an Asus A8N-E or perhaps a Gigabyte K8V... I know it's not nF4, but they're good boards for budget machines.
well wot i need is a mobo that supports amd and has sata2, planning to buy it from http://komplett.co.uk/k/kl.asp?bn=10482, any suggestions?
Why are you so set on SATA-II support? I assume you mean SATA 3Gb/s.... you do realise that current hard drives have not even maxed out half the bandwidth of the original SATA specification?
dunno just on that site western digital sata2 is cheaper than sata. thought might as well get a sata2
