Im baffled how this makes him like Bill Gates??

They didnt pull books by author they pulled it by the publisher that is publishing the new book. Apple requested not to have the book published for whatever reason and the publisher basicly slapped them in the face, even though apple carries their other products.

So what did Mr. Jobs do? He did what most of big business would have done, he slaped back.

Apple is just throwing their weight around. Welcome to Big Business.....

    Precisely.

BG is known for business, sue everybody. SJ is known first for innovation, coolness. But yer right of course, SJ is getting OLD!

What slap? Publishers are in the business of publishing, they don't publish, may as well fold tent and go home. This is not like the Enquirer accusing SJ of stealing their ideas from Microsoft <gasp>. Just an un-authorized bio. Hey, when you are famous, it's gonna happen. It's like celebrities complaining about paparazzies. They sure have it tought eh?

BTW, SJ is been mum about his family life, HEY what is he hidding anyways. Maybe that's WHY! Now I am really curious.

Hey, maybe this is a reverse phycology Jobs plot! He knew that by complaining will bring yet MORE publicity, and who cares about 200 Apple Stores? it's not like being pulled from Amazon or Walmart - Smart guy!!!

Im sure that Apple was a portion of their business. They didnt just pull that book (I seriously dout it made it to the store) but they pulled every other book from that publisher.

They didnt sue anybody they just pulled their books from their shelves, theres a difference between sicking your lawyers on someone and using business powers to pressure someone. Thats one thing MS doesnt have much to work with....

I know I personally wouldnt want my life exposed for the whole world to see no matter who I am or what Ive done. Im not hidding anything its just none of the worlds business what I do in my personal life.

Regardless the publisher sent a trasncript of the book to Jobs and he didnt like it for whatever reason.

No - Steve Jobs is just as much a ******* (if not more so) than Bill Gates. He can be a real nasty piece of work at times - Like ripping of his friends (In the early days, Wozniak programmed breakout for Atari. Jobs got paid $3,000 for doing nothing, and gave Woz 'half' for doing the coding - $350); Denying key staff stock before the IPO, despite all the hard work they put into the company; Leaving the mother of his first child (His daughter, Lisa) to fend for her self when he found out she was pregnant, and pretty much ignoring her for the first 15-16 years of her life (Minimum support, even though he was, at the time, one of the richest men in America).

You can argue that he's a visionary CEO and that Apple need him, but he's not a saint.

He does seem to have a bit of a temper! I recall reading something about him ripping out a load of nvidia cards from new Mac models a conference and demanding they be replaced with ATi models (or vice versa) a few mins before he was due to be on stage or something...

    i wish i had a better memory :D

I think he's far worse - sueing apple info websites, his FANsites. Sure the author has freedom of speech to write about who he feels, as long as it's not liable, otherwise newspapers would be up **** creek

    edit: ahh apple's own stores.

He's a very arrogant person, which seems to happen to a lot of people when they do well, it gives them a inflated opinion of themselves.

If you say that Steve Jobs is like Bill Gates, you should be kicked were it hurts!
Job doesn’t donate a large amount of the money he makes to charity! (Bill Gates gives hundreds of millions of his own money to charities around the world!) Steve Jobs isn’t an good family man! And as it seems lastly he hates those few people that support him!

From the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation:
2003 grant payments were over $1,000,000,000, dollars. Yes, Billion. Say what you want about Microsoft or its business practices, but the man is a bona fide philanthropist.

I would take Bill Gates' ethics over Steve Jobs any day. Jobs seems like an utter ass imo, Gates is just a geeky CEO trying to do the best for his company. But, everything said about him giving to charity and such is true. In fact, years ago when Apple was sued for lines of code in their OS by...someone..., Gates actually bailed them out, paying off whoever was suing him (don't remember the details tbh). Gates, bailing his buisness rival out of basically going bankrupt, or at least losing their staple OS. I would Google for the exact info, but I cba.

Oh, and RTT, it was Jobs ripping all the ATi cards out of G5's because one of the ATi execs had released some new Apple detail at a press conference the day before MacWorld. Guy's got a major temper problem, tbh...

Everyone hates who's on top, and that happens to be Microsoft. But when push comes to shove, Microsoft pulls through. Taking into account that over 80% of the computers in the world run on a Microsoft OS, they're doing pretty damned good, imo.
