Hi, I'm about to buy a new computer and wanted to know what Watt PSU should I use?

    The specs would be around:
    INTEL CORE 2 DUO E4300 1.8Ghz 2m CACHE 800FSB LGA 775 or a INTEL PENTIUM 4 Processor 531 LGA775 3.0Ghz 1MB L2-Cache 800FSB
Western Digital 250 gig 7200rpm SATAII KS 16meg Cache
    1gig DDR2-667 (PC5300)
ABIT IB9 Intel P965 Dual Channel DDR2 SATA GBLan 7.1 Channel Audio
Albatron Nvidia 7300-GT 256meg PCI Express

Would a 350Watt PSU be good for this, also which processor would I be better off with?

    Thanks :D

From my experience quality matters more in the power supply rather than the total wattage.

A good 350 watt PSU should push that just fine, I'd reccomend Antec, Enermax, or Seasonic.

As for the CPU, the E4300. No question. It'll beat up any P4 ever built, including the dual-core pentiums and Pentium EEs.

If you're going to be overclocking or maybe upgrading the vid card at a future date it might be prudent to get a higher wattage PSU, even for your system above I'd personally recommend something around the 400-450 mark.

Max it at 400 watts, you wont need anything more than that, if you do its going to be money wasted, seasonic or silverstone should do you fine :)

i have the system that is shown in my signature, and that LCpower Scorpio Modular 480w[i have it about 6 - 12 months] works really fine.. and if you'r on a mood of having your cables really tidy and with a good air flux, than you'll want a Modular PSU, i can assure u that!
Even with overclock and some losses of electricity at home, my PSU still gets huge results..

    for example:

Manufacter says that the psu has 12v, and i get about 11.9v - 12.1v..
this psu was the best psu i've ever had.. and at this time i can assure you, i will NOT change my PSU in the next 6 months, at least..

Thanks for your help people :D , now my system will be:

    OMNI ATX 400watt Midi-Tower Model 4725
    ABIT FP-IN90-SLi FATAL1TY Nvidia Nforce 650i SLi 7.1 Audio GBLan Dual DDR2
    INTEL CORE 2 DUO E4300 1.8Ghz 2m CACHE 800FSB LGA 775
Western Digital 250 gig 7200rpm SATAII KS 16meg Cache
    1gig DDR2-667 (PC5300)
Albatron Nvidia 7300-GT 256meg PCI Express

Another question, would one fan in the case be enougth to keep everything cool or should I get more?

    Thanks.

No, don't get the Omni: It sounds like a pile of generic crap. Don't waste your money. Get something QUALITY and you will be fine. Seasonic S12 330, 380, those are PLENTY.

    What BBQ says.

Don't skimp on the PSU and just buy the cheapest one with the biggest wattage.
I'd rather have a 330W Seasonic than a 600W OMNI any day of the week!

Remember, everything inside your PSU needs power, so if you skimp on that it's like buying a ferarri and trying to run it on vegetable oil! :D

Thanks for the advice everyone :) , now for the PSU it is changed to CODEGEN 650watt P4-SATA-EPS Supported DUAL FANS Mirror Finish.

I called the company who I'm buying my system from and this was the PSU they recommended and I could upgrade to a Geforce 8 if I wanted to in the future.

Another question, does Windows XP work with Core 2 duo's?

    Thanks :)

That is just as bad, if not worse. Don't waste your money. Companies tend to recommend products that will have you coming back for more, or poor sellers. Personal experience.
