Super Resin is a polish with mild abrasives and a wax to give it some protection. If you apply some pure wax over the top of that polish it'll give you longer lasting protection. As above, a really well kept car. :thumb:

I dont use wax. Keep it clean by washing regularly (with car shampoo), and if needed, autoglym polish.

    Nowt else needed

Well to have it shine like that after a 300mile trip, I use meguiars premium soap loaded into a mr clean sprayer gun and wash off with a cotton mit, then I rinse off with the filtered water, after that I use a california blade to dry it and some microfiber towels for the tough spots, then I put on a coat of meguiars premium wax, let it haze nicely, then with a clean microfiber towel I polish it, after I apply meguiars quick detailer to seal in the stuff. I usualy wait until mid afternoon and do it under a shade as well. Shines like a diamond. Hell I could shave over the reflection of the paint. It lasts about 2-3 months, then its time again. Although I would like to do it monthly.

The only thing I want to do is switch from a cotton mit to a microfiber mit. I want to try the ice detailer, as well as turtle wax sealer, although meguiars probably has a sealer of their own.

FYI: to keep dust off use a california duster. The best 15 bux I ever spent. Keeps the car dust free in-between washings.

Apparently, after you polish/wax (most of the common polish's have a an amount of wax too) Turtle Wax Gloss Guard is pretty unbeatable.

As for another sort of wax, do any of you use an alloy wheel protector? I've just put one on my fabia's alloys, it still seems to be builiding up, although granted not as rapidly, although to be fair I think I may have applied it slightly wrong so I will give it a better go as long as it's dry this weekend.

This site is worth having a read - http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/

Turtle wax isnt that great from what I know. Heard good stuff about poorboys natty blue!.

Personally I/We own some P21 and Hard Core XXX wax. (yes i know the name is bad).

I can tell you that the independent car accessory retailers are all getting behind Meguiars. It's a damn good product and is getting cheaper over time. Buying more budget products is false economy as they last less time. So yeah my professional opinion is go for the good stuff, and you can't get much better than Meguiars.

I could tell you exactly how the various brands have been performing over time, but then I'd have to charge you all £50,000 +VAT for the information, so maybe that's out of the scope of this thread.

lol I've heard that the meguiars number 2 cleaner wax is good, I'm going to get some of that me thinks. I am going to get the turtlewax gloss though, it either won or came second in the auto express awards for three years, and it's very good value.

I am curious about the shampoo's with wax in however. Auo trader tested a group of them and recomend the car plan triplewax shampoo, but surely if you are using a polish afterwards then the wax in the shampoo is negated?

Wash > clay bar > wash > polish > wax

Once or twice a year. Then just washing it when it gets dirty is really easy, and it looks good!

wash > clay > paint cleaner (meguiars step 1) > polish > glaze > wax

    That's the exact glaze I use ;)

I can't say I've noticed the smell, I generally just sniff my #16 wax if I get a wiff of something horrible. It does work a treat on fading oxidised red paint as your example shows. I forced my sister to use it when doing her red mk1 mx5.

Apparently nose grease is pretty good at shining surfaces, so if you ever run out of Meguiars or whatever and you're a greasy person...

Not very long lasting though sadly.

Works well on the interior though.

that one has a very very strong sulphur smell. strange.

np :) check out the professionals some of their work is amazing. like the guy who took wet and dry to a Bugatti Veyron. :jawdrop:

Back on the subject of wax. Wax is good, but you got to make sure you got it looking good to start with :). Getting it from a semi-professional website on-line will generally give you a better product than something off the shelf from halfords, even if the packaging isnt as pretty (i.e. poorboys)

    Agreed!

I am going to give the meguairs cleaner wax a go me thinks.

I'm also going to grab a pack of lint free clothes as well, apparently they are good for polishing? all I've got atm are some really knackered rags lol

Hmmm... I don't have the time.

Clean, wash and wax at the car wash :thumb:

5 minutes, and it's shiny for about 2 days in the weekend ... after that, it's dirty again. Real dirty!!!

I'm sorry to say, I can't be bothered to keep it clean like you guys, I get a new car evey 4 years! The inside is very clean though.
