    Hi, My current spec.

    AMD 3500 venice
    Shuttle SN25P
1 gig value RAM [Dare I say it here but im not into overclocking]

I esspecially need a GFX card. whats the best value now. I don't want the latset 7900gtx thingy for the price of a car:/
Id more prefer a good workhorse and was thinking along the lines of 6800gt or ultra?

I play BF2 and am looking forward to its next incarnation later this year along with gHOST RECON ADVANCED WARFIGHTER.

    any suggestions appreciated

    Mickey

I think a 7600 gt/ X1800 GTO would be a good card for you as they are the latest gen of cards and at a good price. Also if you play BF2 I'd reccomend 2Gb of ram just to speed up those loading times ;)

yes the 7600gt would be a good one to go for as the x1800 would to (as said)

2gb of generic ram (nothing special) will be more than ideal to run BF2 the smoothness gain from 2 gig in bf2 is amazing

Depending on your budget, a 7900GT or 7800GT is a good choice of card. Honestly, a 7600 wouldn't cut it when it comes to Ghost Recon.

Hi thanks for all your replys

@Ramble - you say that mate, but my 6200 card plays bf2 to a playstation 2 standard.
Advanced Warfighter can't NEED that much power or it would exclude people with low to mid PCs and that is a good %75 of the market.

You would be able to run it, but without all the reasonable effects. So a mid-range card would probabily give you more bang/£ than a low range one in the future.

I also vote for the 7600gt or the 7900gt. Leaning toward the 7900gt. Especially because this is going to go inside of a shuttle; lower power consumption and lower heat output:thumb:

I totally admit the 6200 I have now is def the weakest link in the chain by a long way.

Im pleased no one has had anything to say about my 3500venice CPU meaning it has something left in it to say the least as far as games are concerned.

the 7600 sounds great value for money. the 7900 sounds like the latest tech and so terrible value for money but damned exciting.

Ill def get 2gb of ram seems as everyone is in agreement.

Re fitting cards in the shuttle. Its amazing hoe much you can fit in. The biggest prob for the GFX cards is the floppy drive housing. Don't know about you but I havent had or used a floppy drive for years. So, cut out the floppy housing and it frees up alot of space.

Could any1 be so kind as to put the current range of GFX cards in a sort of performance order for me. Last time I looked you could only get a 7800 GT or GTX.

    Many thanks

    Mickey

If you can still find one, get a 7800GT with 256mb of memory, they're relatively cheap, around £180 and they clock (normally) like no-ones business :baby:

I got my pixelview from microdirect for that, but they've all dried up unfortunatley, there was a few e-vga (I think that was the brand) ones knocking around, but if you keep your eyes peeled, there's quite a few on periodic special offers etc :)
