i just gave up the fags and want to get a bit fitter as well.
as i am very unfit i am going to build up gradually.
planning on going for a 30min walk every day, gradually increasing the pace
thats the plan for a month or 2

Ok so i kinda started to do this

Im walking alot more drinking and eating more healthy

When the weathers gets a bit better and we get lighter nights i will start running 30mins - 1 hour every other night atleast

I also managed to drag out a barbell my dad found a while bag and been doing 35lb curls to build up the old biceps and triceps as i would love to say im buff but i would be lying

Think i overdone it a bit the other day because my arms are aching quite a bit should i drop the weight and build up? or just carry on with the 35lb and fight through it :p more am i achieving anything with 35lb as im doing about 10 reps a time then 30sec break and so on for about 15 goes

I have been going to the gym for a month and a half now but I haven't lost any weight because I had terribad control during the holidays and lost interest a little for two weeks. Basically though it was only a test on my body to see if I was ready to exercise after my surgery. Everything is good now and tonight I'm going to work on my legs.

I haven't played my favorite sports (badminton) in a year now and I miss it a lot. My Babolat must be dieing from boredom

I'm still way too heavy to skate (hockey) or ride my bike though. It sucks but nutrition is something that will take years of work for me because I am what they call "difficile" in French, meaning I don't eat lots of different foods and I hate (with a passion) to taste something for the first time. I'm sure I'm worse than Richard Hammond

Cyclist, I try and do 10 miles a day at least (though because of illness I've done 20 since the start of the year)

I do stuff that I can easily manage no matter where I am. That means running and weights are not something I do every day.

    150-200 sit-ups (usually in sets of 30 or 50)
    20-30 press-ups (usually in sets of 10)
    20-30 pull-ups (usually in sets of 10)

That aside, I walk about 5 miles a day to and from class and around town. I don't run often but every now and again I'll do 5-10 miles at a fair pace. Since I smoke, I have very stamina for running but curiously have had no problems with the other exercises.

I got into this routine about 4 years ago, have only stopped for a week or two at times (due to jetlag, vacations, etc). However, I have to admit, I got started on this because I used to box in school and once you get into a routine like this for 3-odd months, it becomes very easy to keep it up if you wish to.

I do weight training, I'm not very fit CV-wise. But Strength is my killing point with fitness.

Got a HUGE frame bone wise (Shut up... I heard the sniggers) and muscle base, so I end up making Arnold Schasqweifnja (The Austrian Predator Hunter) look small.

You sir have stated my EXACT diet and work-out routine (minus the not smoking part cause, well, that is a bitch to give up oh and my desktop background is not of fat people :p)

I have been doing pretty much what Evo posted since October. I'm down 40 pounds. Only thing I do different is I have a protein shake after working out as well. I also take a pre-workout thermogenic to increase blood flow to help with my workout as well.

Here's my pre-workout (small) and protein I take (big)

The pre-workout I DO NOT recommend until you get into a routine. I have only been taking it for the last month and it does help, but don't start out using it right away.

I've lost 15 kg from my normal weight last year due to me being a major sissy and going all depressed over muff. I started trying to gain it back, hopefully with some muscle mixed in.

I never smoked but my diet used to be very meat-heavy, i'm trying to change that.

I love to walk which is always do-able, and i enjoy hiking if i get a chance. Since i'm too shy to go to a gym i've been doing basic stuff at home like sit-ups and lifting weights, i don't think i'm fit enough to attempt push-ups yet lol.

Meh... you have to ask yourself (no really you do)... how the French, per capita, eat so much cheese and red meat... smoke... drink red wine by the vat... and yet live longer on average than the British do ...

Do not drive for any journey under 3 miles. At a quick pace that's only half an hour. Even a small shopping trip is worth walking for, take a backpack and carry the shopping home.

I know it's not as effective as going to the gym etc. but it's free and, provided you're not in the middle of a city, pleasant.

Usually walk (quite briskly) 6-7 miles a day, also do a 35-40 min workout twice a week...

I noticed a number of people do a lot of routines that are non weight-bearing (swimming, cycling), so that the skeleton is being negelected, according to Wolff's Law, "bone re-models under stress," ie. new bone is formed (osteoblastic activity) thus strengthening bones, so a good idea would be to balance your non-weightbearing activities with weightbearing...

    This ^.

I live in a 400 year old house that is at least three miles from any kind of amenity... so I walk a lot... and do a lot of physical labour upkeeping the property, garden, etc etc.... I was brought up getting up at 5am to herd cows and feed horses etc... the prospect of paying someone monthly so I can go and sweat and pull gimp faces is lunacy IMHO...

Though on the downside... our broadband sucks the big one...

Well hell, I better buck the trend. As well as being a geek, I'm also a sports nut. My main sport is rugby, which I train twice a week and play on a Saturday, during the summer I play golf, go running, and this year (cue excitement) I'm going to start playing American Football. I also enjoy cricket and football, although I don't get to play them so often. I've got a multi gym in my computer room, and try to use that for half hour every night.

The problem is that as well as PLAYING sports, I also love WATCHING sports. Which means settling down with beers in front of my TV or going to the pub to watch games, which means I barely ever get any fitter than I am, as alcohol is the killer of all things good!

Guinness, Harp, and the occasional Fosters. 5000 calories a day to maintain current 142 pounds. Hell being sick.
