Well my new desk came today, and it is better than I could have imagined. I had planned to put my spare PC's on it but after seeing it I was hooked and had to have it as my main desk. Only when I turned my PC on did I realise how good it was :)

Posted on OCUK forums and opinion was quite divided between amazing and bad, so thought you might want to have a look incase you missed it. :)

Hhmmm, I'm not sure tbh.

Although I would like to know where it came from. I think it may be the sort of store that stocks the sort of stuff I like.

Hopefully it wasn't very expensive...there really isn't much to it...just some wire legs and a tempered glass top.

I hope it wasnt much...you could make one of those pretty easy.....I would use something other than the wire cages for legs tho....

now all that you need is glass/acrylic case, transparent mouse/keyboard and TFT-display. :) Transparent desk needs transparent equipment.

All the parts came from Habitat UK and can be mail ordered. The glass is 8mm thick 2 metre Long Toughned Laminate glass. It was expensive at £200 but thats the normal price for good glass, you can not get good strong glass cheap. It can hold 50 KG max in the centre of the pain when only suported at either end so it can take heavy stuff, if in doubt just put the heavy object over one of the suports.

The wire supports look great in real life with reflections etc, not may peopel like them from the photos. I cant rember how much the legs where off hand but im sure you can find out on there website.

Yet again opinion is heavily divided :)

Yea, it looks like a habitat piece. I love the glass, but the supports remind me of the racking found in kitchen units @ MFI. :worried:

BTW, I would recommend anyone go over and check out the habitat site. Easily one of the finest pieces of commercial flash on the web.

you know what i think would be cool. if you ran el wire along the back edge of the glass. might make it glow. then again probably wouldnt be strong enough and itd be too far away. if it was frosted and you put elwire all around it though to make it glow. that would be pretty cool i would think.

I would like your window and the mood lighting. The desk is nice, but not the type for me as I like to stretch my legs out under my desk.

    Nice :D

Get yours self a wireless keyboard and mouse, and that would make it look even better IMHO. Maybe a shuttle box as well.

That desk totally 0wns mine! I'd love to make one too but my 21" monitor would have to go in between the supports which would worry me slightly.
