It's basically a system where you can rate other members. If you're helpful and pleasant, you may get a high reputation rating. If you're always swearing and chewing out people, your reputation will take a hit. This of course depends on user participation, and for some reason I don't think we'll see a huge amount of it.

other members rate you on on 1337 you are
    if they can be bothered

im not sure how many people will be using the reputation system, in theory it is a good idea, if someone actually uses it to respond to a particularly helpful post or unhelpful post

I rated someone just too see what it would do. Not a whole lot ;) .

Although I have noticed that macroman has accumulated an exorbitant amount of good reputation somehow... Although now it seems he has disabled his reputation, jerk :) .

    Another Helpful Bit-Tech'er

I just checked my reputation, and from my "Mod's Lounge" thread, I received an "Idiot" comment. I feel this is particularly constructive, and encourage more people to leave such helpful and insightful comments in my CP.

I think other people that read this CP comment and then read the three-post-strong thread will appreciate the criticism and the method of thinking behind it. I feel this system, now brought to light, will lead to as many unhelpful comments as helpful ones. Are these comments moderated?

Good question! They better be, if they are not, PMs shouldn't be disabled then either, because it is disabled because of the same reason (too hard to moderate).

I left that comment (it should say that I left it) due to the fact that you seemed surprised and annoyed that 'all of a sudden' ( ) your access to the private forums was revoked. What else did you expect? :blah:

Sorry, but i was pretty pissed off when I read your thread.

The point about moderating comments is a good one, I'll look into it.

It doesn't say who left any I don't think, and I don't think it should - otherwise people might be afraid to speak their minds...

How do you view your reputation level? I went into user cp and all I saw about it was an option to disable it...

@Vixen: Click your own Reputation button in a post. This will show you your current total.

Going to your UserCP will show you the last x many comments left as well.

Next time something important needs to be brought to the attention of a senior ranking board member, I'll be sure NOT to mention it for fear of repercussions and the "gratitude" of those in charge. :grr:

Any chance of someone removing this comment from my CP? I wouldn't actually mind as much if this had been going on since I started posting here, and maybe have some positive comments aswell, but having 500 odd posts and the only comment in my CP being "idiot" seems a bit harsh. :blah:

There is always the "e-mail" option from any one of the Mod or Admin's profiles... preferably choose one that is on-line at the time.

Agreed. But do you not feel it is quicker and easier and more effective to post a message alerting any and all online mods to the problem?

Err, not if you politely posted a thread to say 'guys.. this is open' or something to that effect. Mark my words!

Again, not true and you need not feel like that. All depends on how you go about saying it, as my earlier post and your agreement ( ;) heh ) shows!

When I am next dabbling with the DB, i'll remove the comment. As explained, i was really quite narked at your attitude, sorry if I came across too rude or whatever, i didn't intend to piss you off either ;)
