Meh. I was hoping they would go head to head with Planetary Annihilation. Not really interested in some kind of DOTA clone.

They cant really as the IP to 'Supreme Commander' belongs to Square Enix so unless they want to make a third then gas powered cannot do anything and the TA ip belongs to another company.

If Planetary Annihilation does well then we may see SC/TA games being made.

New IP is easy enough to make though, they've done it here with Wildman.

I had a feeling it might be something like this, in an interview I read they were all going on about how they made Demigod before DOTA but the publisher rushed it out with a broken MP and it killed the game.

Think I'll just wait and see the review scores before jumping on board with this.

I can't really see how it's that different to the recent influx of this type of game (Diablo3, Torchlight 2, Path Of Exile) unless I am missing something. I bought all three of these and kind of wish I hadn't - all they seemed to do was advance my RSI a notch and kill my mouse!

I think I will wait until there's something that shows proper game-play before I decide to jump on board or not.

If it has micro-transactions (and I haven't read if it hasn't or has these) then I am definitely steering clear.

    Aaaand it's all over...

Not that it comes as much of a surprise after how tepid the response to the Kickstarter was. Still, I hope GPG lives on in some form or another.

GPG just needs to keep churning out SupComs. It's the only thing that made them money I would bet.

SupCom/FA made a massive loss, hence them making the decision to mainstream the sequel and release it on consoles. And we all know how that went.

What they needed to do was release another (proper) SupCom sequel or another spiritual successor to TA and Kickstart it, as that would easily have the potential to make or exceed its budget in the same way as PA has, rather than coming up with yet another weak IP. Unfortunately Uber got in there first, which I guess is why Chris Taylor is bitter about them doing so well out of it while his own studio is crumbling around him...

    Totally agree.

From what Jon Mavor said in his RPS interview SupCom ended up costing so much because it went through development hell, with people leaving and new people coming in halfway through.

Not sure what I'd do now if I was CT, with Uber creating the already fantastic looking P.A.

Supcom/fa both cost alot to develop and both to this day have issues running on anything but the fastest hardware ( if your pushing 3-4k units )

Both are good games though but not a game for the masses.

Poor sales backed up by average reviews killed any hopes of supcom2 been like them.

This is the future of gaming if it don't sell we'll don't expect another.

Good luck to them. Those guys at Wargaming, net seem a bit crazy and I like the cut of their jib! Anyone who funds a project to go and try and dig up a load of Spitfires gets my support!!

    So, Kings and Castles then!

The rights are still with Square Enix, so we won't be seeing another SupCom any time soon unfortunately :(
