ok hears the deal,i have a legit copy of windows xp that i got when i got my laptop however i want to install linux on my LT and install windows xp on my PC the only problem is that since i got XP on a ghost image (i got it from acer) they didnt give me the CD-KEY, is there a way i can get M$ to tell me what it is, or is there a way i can find out my cd with a clever bit of software?

    Cheers Wavefront

If it is indeed legit you will have your CD key on a COA (Certificate of Authenticity) stuck to the bottom of your laptop or in the laptop's documentation somewhere. :)

"Microsoft actually has instructions for changing the XP key and provides scripts for it, so I just integrated those scripts into the Keyfinder...The Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder is a freeware utility that retrieves your Product Key (cd key) used to install windows from your registry. It has the options to copy the key to clipboard, save it to a text file, or print it for safekeeping."
