Girlfriend tells me she got annoyed at something in work, when i tell her she was in the wrong… Nope not going to make that mistake ever again.

 

PC A

PSU - Dead
GPU - Dead
CPU/RAM/Mobo - Either all 4 sticks of memory between both PCs are dead, there's an issue with the slots or the cpu momory controller is toast

PC B

PSU - Dead, add funky smell to funky noise [not quite dead psu smell, but close]
Mobo - Dead
CPU - ???, probably dead.
RAM - See above

...add a tripped RCD and a partridge in a pear tree.


on the upside, neither HDD appears to be harmed.

 

Hard to describe really, just get the feeling that it really didn't go that well. I'm unfamiliar with quite a lot of their technology stack and I really didn't know how to answer some of their questions.

 

When will you know if/how badly you flubbed the interview... or is it the typical indeterminate waiting...

 

The usual: "We've got a few other candidates, so we should be able to get back in touch in the next week or two".

I guess you need to up the learning curve of when to say yes/no in the right places along with the corresponding approving/disapproving sounds - hell hath no fury like the female of the species...

 

Locked out of a couple of my accounts because of 2FA... self inflicted to an extent but annoying...

Use an authenitcator app - no smartphone
Use SMS? - didn't have it set as an option on the account.
Use Email? - can't because i can't get in because i can't 2FA.
Use backup codes - they're on my PC... which is ****ed... which is why i'm going through the login/2fa ballache in the first place...
Why didn't you print the codes off? - because i don't have a printer.
You should be using a yubiwubiwotsit usb widget. - I don't have one

If you listen carefully they should give you the acceptable opinion in the preamble to their question!

 

The age old "is this a question, or a test?" conundrum. 60% of the time, it catches me out every time.

 

Yeah, I do that, still do, she's a week into a new job that she will be in charge of one day but she's already got issues with it and making too many waves too soon. Actually survived that conversation gladly!

 

Not that it helps you now but look into Authy - it keeps backups of your codes and can be used across multiple devices

 

open office just **** itself and ate an application i was working on, several hours of work now gone. already had my sense of humour failure, gonna take a nap in the cool and then start again, gotta get it done in time for the deadline tomorrow.

 

Office autosave to onedrive cheescake + version history on onedrive... saved my ass more than once... most recently when my PC shat itself to death.

 

Or Google Drive, also has versioning.
