Other What's ruining your life right now?

Last night:

 

Orders PC stuff, all items in stock, chase four days later as no update, gets a response none of the items I ordered were in stock and needs 2-3 weeks to "manufacturer".

OCUK phantom stock strikes again!

 

My cars locked up in a tyre garage through Christmas. Alloy is totally jacked despite replacing a rear alloy a matter of weeks ago. New one is on order but with the other one not looking too happy I could probably do with ordering a second and I'm absolutely skint...

The roads are just atrocious... If it's not potholes, builders just leave strewn hardcore on the roads after falling off overladen trucks. Either I slow down as much as I can without getting rear ended, drive into oncoming traffic or just accept my fate and try avoid what I can... I'm fed up of paying out for others. Don't get me wrong low profile tyres are going to be an massive contributing factor but I have anxiety about driving anywhere now...

2020 has to be my year.....

 

18 years I've been here. Lots of changes in 18 years. Finally feels like to me it's not a very welcoming place to be.

I've got cake if that helps? Admittedly it's only carrot and walnut but it does have icing.

 

Next door continuing with the child screaming, the mum shouting, the dad shouting.

Turns are being taken in who shouts at whom, I hope it's not the modern version of charades.

A robust argument with a Musky fanboy doesn't make this an unwelcoming forum.

Sometimes, when my defective mind has been on the fritz, I've said things here that I shouldn't have and have had to apologise later but, the forum still seems to welcome my input enough for me to have nearly 500 likes. Don't let one idiot turn you away.

 

It can sometimes feel that some members with visible responsibility on the site are allowed unchecked freedom to push the limits of said responsibility... to the extent that a vote of no confidence in the overall moderation of the site could be called for. However; while such behaviours are seen to be unchecked, all any of us can do is stay quiet &/or leave the site, with a feeling of no/little recourse to ill-feeling the site leaves them with.

Like the expressed viewpoints you refer to, taken individually... a subjective appraisal.

 

@Zoon , I don't think this forum is a less welcoming place to be, necessarily, but it is definitely suffering from the same issues as many forums over the years - membership numbers are dwindling, there's not much fresh blood coming in, and as a result it's the most frequent posters who tend to dominate proceedings, and it's the same old topics that tend to get discussed.

That's fine unless said posters and topics aren't your cup of tea, in which case it'd be perfectly understandable for you to find this place a bit lacking. Unfortunately it does seem that the glory days of this community are very much in the past and it has lost a lot of what made it such a great place, but having said that I still think that it's worthwhile sticking around - or maybe I'm just too stubborn to let go Sometimes taking a break is in order - best case scenario is that you have a rest, come back and find things are actually okay, worst case is that you take a break, come back and it's still not for you.

 

Other forums I am a member of are going the same way. Much of the activity that used to keep forums vibrant, now happens on the Farcebook and other social media.

 

It is a different place here these days, no doubt about that. There are some decent people here though, and I think it's still a far nicer place to be than social media in general.

But it definitely feels different around here.

 

I'm definitely not decent. But I also don't argue much on here, so there is that.

 

It takes more than one idiot to create (and sustain) an argument. It's like that assholes scene from Spaceballs, over in that thread.

 

Different? Yes.
Worse? Maybe.
Still the best "of its kind" forum? Damn straight.

Aye, and i've finished the last seasons of Expanse and The Blacklist.

Avoided several of the recent phase of the MCU so at least i have a few of those to catch up on. Beyond that, i'm at a loss

 

GOOD NEWS! They're already 5 episodes into making the next season!
