Extension costs have spiraled out of control, now looking at almost £40k short if we had to pay it all today. Looks like we can drag that down to £15-20k with credit cards and extra work, but still need to find the rest from somewhere...

And wherever we do find it, it means that we will be paying it off for at least the next 3-4 years. So no upgrades or treats for the foreseeable future :waah:

Maybe write what's needed into a TXT file while you wait, and copypasta into the web form?

Aye, this is what I do with almost every web form that requires more than a couple of lines of text. It's also good to do for job apps so that you have a record of what you've said :)

For some unknown reason I decided to bite the bullet at 7:30pm and completely drain, strip, rebuild and refill my PC, having spent all day on it already.

It went so well. Real smooth, not one drop spilled and I even managed to get the coolant back into the bottle.

Put it all back together, wouldn't boot. I did it because I'd accidentally flicked the backlight off on the floor screen when drying it. This was confirmed and the screen is fine.

Any way finally got it to boot. No U.2 SSD. Which is in a pcie card buried behind the looped GPU. Turns out the clip that holds the cable to the card had fallen off. Three times of in and out later and it finally picked up. Phew.

Booted into Windows, ram is 2133. Go to bios set XMP, won't boot.

Many hours later I took the ram out, put it back in and set XMP again. worked like a champ. Weird eh?

Any way that's all working sweet. What's ruining my life is my back lol. I've totally mashed it writing around on the floor trying to see what I was doing. It had me up half the night and every hour, now I'm sat here in agony.

Had my pacemaker op cancelled for the third time since Christmas eve. Always the same, get gowned up ready to go and then decide that due to infection showing in my blood test not to go ahead due to risk of endocarditis. This could have been avoided if they had actually completed the blood test I had done on monday but failed to do.

Now they suggest I wait till I've had my other op to have it done and use an external pacemaker if things go south during that. Then I'll be able to have the pacemaker fitted.

I was supposed to have this other op in September last year but this was cancelled on the day as they wouldn't be able to fit a pacemaker there if things went wrong at the hospital I was at even though they knew this would be the case after the Pre-Assessment they did.

Oh and this is the health board where I work and have now been moved to ssp only as they have taken so long to get this sorted that my sickness pay has run out.

This has to be the most unlucky/accident prone build ever. Open one of the noiseblocker eloop to only find 4 grommets instead of 8. Their cs was top notch though, no qualms just an email to them and should be posted Monday. Start installing the fans, get the rad in the bottom slot first, move to the top one next to put it as high as possible, can't get the middle one in as the chambers of the rad are in the way (stupid square EK rads). Also the fan screws stick out a mile once installed so I'll never get the rad in AND the big nuts look ungainly.

Out they come then. Get the top 2 in, screw heads facing out for minimal view, cables done nicely and length is perfect. Step back and balls, the writing is vertical, I know it'll annoy my brother to oblivion. So out they come again, find the 2 fans with the straightest/most level label and get them in. Good.

Have to put thick washers on the lower rad screws to clear the lower screw heads of the middle fan and get the rad straight. Bit awkward, can't see much, get the top screws in, just can't seem to get the bottom ones. Unscrew and bring it away, try again. Same thing happens. Try again. Go for the bottom screws first, good, get the top ones in, I've it a little wiggle to make sure it's good and ping! Corner pops off. It's threaded. :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Had to take off the side panel, file down the shards sticking down from the screw hole, file the hole a little, panel back on, jam 2 of the nuts from the fans between the hole in the frame and fins. It worked, it's on, it's stable, but jesus titty ****ing christ can something go right please!?

This is the kind of crap you have to fudge on the fly after relying on other people's sketchup models for designs.

    Think I'm winning overall though.

Ignore the ugly straggly cables at the bottom, they'll be covered by the riser :hehe:

I'll be winning when it's all done lol.

Should be some time within the next two weeks. Then I need a good tidy up.

Terror attack in Streatham. I used to live there ffs. It's where I got mugged at knifepoint.

Feels weird. Maybe it's an autism thing but I don't get too bothered usually. Mostly because I don't know any of the places it happens, but possibly from growing up with the constant threat of it from the IRA and posters and signs warning you about left bags.

They interviewed a guy there and asked him his account and he said "at first I ignored it as that sort of stuff is common around here". Like fighting and stabbings etc. I know when I lived there it was an everyday event.

Mad though. I shouldn't feel glad I don't live there any more but I do. This would finish me now with my brain being how it is now compared to then.

Just another firm reminder to avoid crappy London.

Funerals and dead folk. This year is already worse than last year was. Last year a very dear friend of mine lost her husband to an almost night long series of heart attacks, a couple of months later her son took his own life. We went to both funerals and gave them both a sufficiently loud viking style send-off, and I still wear the memorial pin that her son's little niece gave me.

So far this year, we have said goodbye to my great aunt. Not entirely unexpected as she was 94 and caught a dose of flu over Christmas. Yesterday I got news that an online acquaintance (owner of a FB group that I am in) committed suicide, no idea about reasoning, but now that doesn't matter. On Saturday I also found out that a friend from the same group had suffered a "massive cardiac event" and died instantly whilst cuddling her grand daughter. This one proper knocked me sideways as her and I had become very good friends, even though we had never met. We talked through chat often about everything and anything and I am really going to miss seeing her usual brand of meme s&%$-posting and cheeky comments on my posts.

Sadly won't be able to attend any funeral arrangements as she lived overseas. Now my memorial pin has a few more tagged to it, and all this has not helped my state of being one bit (don't worry, I ain't going anywhere, too many people (and cats) to be looking after  ).

I'm just glad that nearly all of my family are not there any more.

Didn't know you lived in Croydon. Spent many a day in Allders before the rot set in.

I never went back down Streatham high road until I was in my 20s. Well, not on foot. Ended up drinking in a pub up by Caesars night club for a couple of years.

My ex wife will get a shock today (the first one from America). I used to take her to an Italian restaurant there all the time.

    74-2000.

Too long basically. Long enough to do serious damage.

Made me think when the woman on the news said "no one seemed to notice as this sort of thing is common here". Took me right back to that racism thread and just how awful it is there.

What's funny is that made perfect sense to me. The last time I was in Streatham was in 01 when I was doing my visa having been in new Jersey for three months. I took my ex up there because she was struggling with London life after being raised on a farm. I was working 12 hours a day 6 days a week so took her out every few days so she didn't go insane.

Any way, we're sitting in this restaurant and I hear sirens. All of a sudden a helicopter landed in the street etc. Turns out there was some nutter with a gun. I just carried on like nothing was even happening.

My last night out in Croydon was at The George pub. We were due to go on to the Blue Schoolkid (orchid, a night club) but instead we got a cannister of tear gas chucked through the door of the pub and ended up outside choking and not being able to see.

Such a wonderful place, if you're into s**t holes.
