Mine sailed through the MOT two weeks ago - no advisories, nothing.

    Was feeling smug.

A week later I (lightly) rear-ended a BMW X5. The towing bracket on the X5 made a right ****ing mess of my car.

To add insult to injury, the courtesy car is a ****ing Astra.

That would be enough for this thread, even without COVID.

    Command strip hook shite.

We used quite a few, every bloody one has fallen off over the past few months. Even those with really light things on.

Time to buy a bag of nails and screws and play the dodge the cables/pipes game (although it's a hundred year old brick build so i think we'll be ok).

Aren't they an American thing, originally? Maybe they're really good at sticking to plasterboard - Timber frame and dry wall seems to be quite popular out there, and they did work on the walls of a portacabin office. They've been sh!te every other time I've tried them though.

You could be right mate, plaster on brick seems to be their downfall though. (Oh look, I haz accidental funnee. )

Then again some have literally snapped off and this is with things i've weighed beforehand.

Yeah, only using in the future to hold up my feather boa collection.

Maybe hit up B&Q for a metal detector first, just to be safe?

Just be careful with the stud detectors, they always go off constantly when I pick them up.

I'm in a weird covid self-isolation-but-not limbo and it's getting pretty frustrating, confusing and boring. Here we go:

Thursday and Friday of last week I had a headache and a sore throat - felt rubbish and stayed off work but that was it.
Saturday evening I got a horrendous stomachache which stopped me from sleeping properly - no idea where that came from.
Sunday morning I felt a little better but still had a bit of a stomachache. Mostly went away by the afternoon.
Sunday afternoon / evening - got a really high temperature. Booked and went for a covid test pretty quickly. Temperature stuck around most of the evening. Stomachache getting better.
Monday - temperature gone. Self-isolating with family. Felt mostly better.
Tuesday morning - still self-isolating. Felt almost entirely better.
Tuesday afternoon - got test results (negative) and so went for a walk with the kiddies to try to wear them out a bit. Got home from walk and temperature came back. No idea what to do. Emailed work who said to call 111.
Today - Spoke to 111 who told me that as I had a negative result then everyone can stop self isolating, however I needed to follow the line in the covid results email which states you may return to work if you’ve not had a high temperature for 48 hours and feel well. So not allowed back to work. No need to have another covid test though apparently. Also 111 couldn't help me any more this morning as I had no symptoms of anything at all. Feel almost entirely better all morning until about 20 minutes ago when I can feel my temperature coming back again.

    Huh?

Aye was thinking that. What's the saying, you've either screwed through a cable or pipe or you will do.

Will steer clear of electrical horizontals and verticals. The heating is less of an issue because you can feel the heat through the wall where it goes beteen floors.

Maybe i should save a post here for when i have to come back. I repeatedly keep telling the OH that you can't just hang stuff where you want without at least making a basic check first.

Hopefully she remembers we had that conversation because sometimes she does like to just get on with diy...

Yep. Until I used a metal detector and still hit a lead gas pipe buried in the wall on the first try! :duh:

    Nnnnoooooooo!

Although it's non-conductive it is flammable. Then again it evaporates, I imagine there must be a way to salvage the situation.

Oooh goddamn that's not good. Even if the computer was off, how would you even start dealing with that?
