I have a lot of that, and it is unacceptable after all this time.

Seems like I got lucky last week and Scan did send the one item I ordered, after a LOT of deliberation.
That said, I did get a delayed delivery email in the middle of proceedings.

Meh. I've never had a problem with Scan. Even been in the store a couple of times to pick up hardware.

I'm sure that is super reassuring to the guy who has just been let down by them ;)

I really don't know what it is with them, I've had more good service than bad, but some have had awful service over & over again.

If they were consistently bad, it would be easier to avoid them, but it's a bit of a gamble each time in many cases...

I know many here wouldn't use them again

I use them as a last resort these days, having had no end of cock-ups with the stock control system. It's a shame, because I've been a customer there since at least 2001. I know others who have had zero issues - guess it's just the luck of the draw. I tend to use other retailers as a first port of call.

Err, what? I wasn't trying to reassure, just saying that there are people who have good service too.

My brother not being able to come home for Xmas, my 1080 crapping out less than a month after I bought the ******* (second hand so I didn't lose a ****-ton of money but it's now very vexing as the 3700XT doesn't have native graphics.

    Yeah :(

It may have been me the other day though. I had to keep changing my cables and PSU so I was a bit rough with it. There's nothing leaked since, and no coolant in the rig. If it is leaking I know where it is coming from, and thankfully it's at the lowest point of the rig with no electronics so I CBA right now. I have the GPU block to fit, and that will require a drain, so I am not doing it twice. I suspect a straight rotary. They are total crap.

This absolutely infuriates me. I'd happily pay a little more tax to help people in need but something tells me it's not down to the common man not paying enough tax, more likely tax breaks for big business and the rich.

Stand-up comedian Henning Wehn put it more succinctly than I ever could!

“We don’t do charity in Germany. We pay taxes. Charity is a failure of governments’ responsibilities."

Not great, I'm sleeping badly (walking up in the night) as I'm nursing a shoulder injury.
Got just the thing for you...
We bought my daughter the first 2 Harry Potter books as she'd like to read them having seen the films a number of times.

Came to open HP vol 1, and it looked a bit odd... My wife has mistakenly bought the Scots edition, lovingly translated into Scottish! :hehe::lol:

Unfortunately, HP is sh!te in any language/dialect, although it might put me to sleep.

I was blessed with two kids who don't care about HP - they don't like the films and they ain't interested in reading the books. I tried reading the first book and thought it was poorly written, but I won't knock it because it did get a lot of kids into reading books, which improves written English and is obviously a boon for those of us offended by the "could of, would of, should of" brigade. I have no evidence, but I can't be the only one who has noticed a reduction of that irritating habit amongst those who grew up with the HP books.

If I have a hankering for a good book with a Scottish flavour, I tend to reach for something by Christopher Brookmyre.

Yeah, the HP books aren't exactly high literature but if they get kids reading then that's good. Not a fan of Rowling as a person so I'd rather she wasn't benefitting from this exchange but given that she is richer than Croesus at this point I think that particular horse has already bolted!

Brookmyre is very good, although I haven't read anything from him for about ten years. I think he got a bit samey and whilst I liked his work I just got a bit scunnered with it after a while.

Scottish book, you say? I can highly recommend His bloody Project by Graeme Macrae Burnet.
