Someone was setting them off nearby a few days ago. Why? Is the ongoing trend of having fireworks on other days other than the 5th going the way of Christmas and extending itself?

At least it's on Friday next week. Nothing like going into work after a night of constantly being woken up.

Lemme tell you what is ruining my life right now.....and I never thought I would be writing this. The NHS is currently ruining my life as I type. I am currently sat in a hospital bed after contracting Pancreatitis as a consequence of gall stones. It all started late July with simple constipation, which lasted a full 8 days....literally nothing passed. The agony was indescribable. A trip to hospital got me looked down on, ignored...a lot...and generally passed from pillar to post. Upshot...a laxitive. A week or two later, another bout, despite doing everything asked...high fibre diet, constant laxitive intake etc...but this time the pain migrated into the solar plexus and was another level entirely, and I also went very yellow ...another trip to hospital, this time with an extended stay....upshot....laxitives and a promise that the gall bladder would be removed within 2 weeks via clinic appointment. 7 weeks passed.....6 of them with the kind of pain reserved for, I would imagine, paedos in hell. Upshot...another frantic trip to hospital to be left rotting in A&E for the best part of 14 hours while crying out and writhing in agony.
Eventually diagnosed with pancreatitis, caused by the gall bladder infection that should have been removed at least 5 weeks earlier. Current state of play...I have a UTI, which was ignored, and a catheter fitted, resulting in a night of fire trying to escape my Johnson accompanied with an even more excruciating pain, the like of which would be deemed too extreme for the aforementioned paedos in a hot place. The Catheter is now thankfully gone but the UTI remains untreated...no idea why. The ultrasound showed no gall stones, but despite the doctors saying the opposite, I will still be going for a camera down my throat...completely needlessly, as there is patently nothing to see.
Surgeons won't remove my gall bladder because it is beneath them. It's a clinic job. Not a hospital job, despite me being here, on a pre surgery ward. Add to that lengthy list, the fact that it is completely impossible to get any meaningful rest in here when observations finish at 12 and start at 5AM , with constant alarms and clattering of equipment in between. I think the NHS can be rightly said to be ruining my life at the moment, while at the very same time, trying to save it. I am in a quandary. Especially when you consider what a right on socialist I am. All I want to do is champion the NHS....but it is very hard to do so from the Inside.

I actually had trick or treaters last night. On October 28th. I didn't answer the door; it looked like one of them had something ready to throw... I suppose at least it wasn't fireworks though.

I'm sorry to hear this. Not nice at all.

This is not life ruining, just gear grinding, but I need to share it with the world.

I bought a PS5+Controller bundle in store in Currys 2 months ago.
The controllers were not in stock, and the PS5 was not available outside of bundle - fine. I'll be contacted within the next couple of weeks when they get their next shipment.

A month had passed when I decided to give the store a call... except you can't because the store seems to make it impossible to contact them directly short of in person (a 45m+ drive in this case). So I call the general order support... except that's for online orders only, for in-store orders I need to contact the store. Explain to the agent the paradox at play here. She calls the store herself... next week they will be in touch when they have the order.

Great, can I just confirm what details they have to make sure they can get in touch? No... no I can't. But I can give my details again and they will email the store on my behalf to make sure they have them... fine.

So today "next week" was 4 weeks ago, I get in touch again.
Go through the same chicken-egg scenario again and somehow it's only me that finds it ridiculous again. The offer now is to email the store on my behalf and ask them to contact me once it's in which went so well last time... it's showing in-stock in the store and online and has been for weeks, but given the rest of their operation my faith in their stock control system is low and I'm not talking a 90min round trip on a punt, and they aren't able to confirm if the store fulfil an order with stock off the shelf anyway (that's a store issue, y'see, and we only know about online orders, not sure I mentioned).

So I ask if there's anyone that can directly and immediately give me a straight answer that they can escalate to. There is not.

So they gave me a complaint/escalation number and someone may or may not be in touch in 7-14 days with an answer or not.

Had a similar thing with currys a couple of years back trying to buy a fitbit for the wife, though it is less of a trek to our local store. Try phone the store, no answer. Customer service number only deals with the online stuff. Someone will get back to you tomorrow/ next week/ whenever. Ended up cancelling the order from the store and buying it online from them, in a sale, it arrived the next day. Now, I actively avoid buying anything from them if I can avoid it.

I've never had problem with online orders and have used them quite a bit due to it being the most cost-effective conversion of credit card points.
I'd never normally have reason to go in-store, but one is unable to be picky about where one buys a PS5.

But if you had been picky-er, you wouldn't be making these posts now.

(I know, I know, you'd just have had to post how not being able to get a PS5 at all was the problem instead of it just being the "extras")

It is true that trying to purchase any item in store at a Currys is a painful experience

OK, can I take it today ?

Oh no, we have to order it in (and you'll get it 2 days later than if you'd ordered from us on the web).

    or

You can take this fridge away today - it's been reduced to 379.00 from the 392.00 it was originally just because it has a tiny 6 inch hole in one side !

    Renting property.

EDIT: In fact, you know what... The Internet could do with a few less angry white dudes, so I'll just leave it at that and go grab a beer.

The ball ache that is trying to remember passwords, passphrases, PIN's to set up a new phone after it's been years since they were last used on the hold phone.
Oh, and having to set up 1001 bluetooth pairings.

That's probably worse for the kids, depending on how old they are, so...

Mooltipass Cheesecake. Bluetooth can be a bit flaky, but it means it doesn't matter what device I'm on.

It is bloody awesome, we've had it for several years but I found it again yesterday. It didn't work, so I sanded all the battery contacts and charged the 6 AAs, and he's back to tip top performance. It can change direction on a dime and there's plenty of torque, so all kinds of child terrorising can be had.

It's done now, so no need for at least another 3 - 4 years, and it was only the banking stuff that didn't port across.
But I never realised how many bluetooth connectiond I have set up on my phone, not helped by my sat nav and helmet comms not playing nice together.

Oh hey, I had to do that a year ago.

Glad to know they haven't bothered sorting the quirkiness on that front.
