I was going to believe your story, but then you went too far, mate. Hoovering your window? Keep your lies realistic, please!

Who’s been window hoovering or, are you getting a bit confused?

EDIT: Seems it's me that is confused, as I don't see the comment you answered...:duh:

    That's some aggressive cleaning!

I'd say either your mother hates you or wants your ass out...

    You're thinking too logically.

She wants me to stay because of bedroom tax and not wanting to be alone, given she falls out dramatically with everyone.

She's also one of those people that tells herself she knows everything and, if anything bad happens, it's the world's fault for not being logical and obeying her. And is proven right, because life keeps working out ok. So no, she's not the type to be careful and respectful. And in this case, she'll tell herself it's my and the monitor's fault, and has said as much.

I only stay because my gf is looking after her mum, so I'm thinking long term and saving a lot more money. So I'm lucky I can just buy a replacement without worrying, even though it feels like a lot of money, because £300 is. But even if she does 3 figures' worth of damage a couple times a year, mother tax is cheaper than rent.

Incidentally, she's asserts control by 'cleaning' my room while her hoarder room is an unhygenic tip. She takes worthless stuff I throw away and brings it back into the house and keeps it to 'sell later'.

Had a no from the interview with IMI. Not entirely unexpected, the company, department and role had changed a lot since I nearly got a job there 6 years ago, so it was a full on corporate treasury position managing a £2b revenue, can't have some amateur come in and tank it, so understand they've not put me through for a second stage. Still disappointing. Still means my nerves will continue to be frayed as the end of my contract comes near. Really need to get on my ACT qualifications. L

Anyone got a spare £3k they want to loan me!? :hehe:

Having survived bowel cancer almost a decade ago, which was in the right place and spotted at the right time for a minimal surgery and a blast of chemo, my Dad now has incurable stomach and liver cancers. He can’t eat solids. He’s on morphine patches. He’s fading away before our eyes. I’m a wreck and it’s awful. Really, **** cancer.

Thanks bud and anyone else who read it but just didn't have words. It's **** and I get it (and I won't be offended at all when this thread moves past the post cos it's awkward). Makes it worse that I now live four hours away from him and due to many reasons I can't see him in person ... before. I've had a few video calls with him, I am going to try and have some more before; he knows he's loved, he knows he made a difference to my life, and will be remembered. I think that's all I can do.

That is definitely the right way of looking at it. Life can be cruel like that and you need to look after yourself as much as after your father, as wrong as that sounds. I lost both my parents to cancer/tumors before my 36th birthday, but I know they knew how much I loved them and how thankful I was for having them. I made sure of that.

    Small victories and all that.

    I echo what @perplekks45 said.

I also lived a way from my dad at the time @Zoon but, yeah, knowing what they mean to you (and vice-versa) is actually all that's really needed. It is enough. More than enough.

It's a shitty thing to go through and even getting to say those things with someone before they go is something not everybody is fortunate enough to get to do.

Obviously I only see that retrospectively, it's hard to think of it like that at the time. Understandably.

    Hang in there bud.

It's one of those days where I miss my mother more than usually. All the way up to starting to cry for pretty much no reason.

It's been five years and overall I handle it very well, but some days...

My Dad sadly left this life over the weekend and is now discovering what's after.

Hug your loved ones frequently and fiercely, friends.

    So sorry to hear.

I seem to recall having a similar thought that my dad would get to discover what happens next.

Take comfort in your friends and family mate, it'll be a period of high and low waves before the seas settle, but they will settle.

We've had an electrician and two network engineers on site for three nights this week, upgrading our network and Wi-Fi access. They've put in a nice new cabinet and moved all the comms into it.

    Handed over yesterday morning.

This morning: nothing. Comms cabinet is down. Nothing has tripped in the distro panels. Just nothing .

The project manager's phone diverts to voicemail because she's now on holiday and weren't given her subordinate's contact details. :wallbash:

Our IT desk has raised a ticket so everything will be fine, probably in a week or so.

Still not got any keys! Was meant to complete nearly 2 months ago, but first a couple of delays with the building, and the larger and ongoing one, the seller didn't register their ownership with the land registry -_- My solicitor suggest to their that we could have an undertaking written up that they'll complete it post sale so I can get keys. Their solicitor says they sent it last week. Takes my solicitor 2 days to look at it and last Friday I get told that no, its not correct. FFS.

This week its me chasing the sales agent to get the sellers solicitors to sort it. 2 days or back and forth, then on Wednesday morning I'm told they don't normally do this kind of thing, and 'anyway 10 of the residents have already completed.' Trying not to rage at this gaslighting, I reply, 'oh, how wildly disconcerting for the other residents' and then remind them that this will not only cause complications now but will prohibit remortgaging and sales in the future. I think this knocked the gears into action in the sales agents head, as a few hours later they say the undertaking will be sent through that day (Wednesday this week). I left it yesterday as I wanted just one day of stress away from it (I'm on 2 weeks leave as I had so much banked riding on this purchase for DIY and moving), but message lunch time yesterday asking if they can chase up if its been sent. Today they message saying they think its been sent, so I call my solicitors who say nothings been received. So now back to the sales agent to chase the sellers solicitors and AROUND WE GO! This is utterly insane! And I can't believe that this industry acts like this is business as usual! Its because there's no recompense for doing things wrong, slow or badly! In any other industry these people would be fired! Its actually insane!

The most frustrating thing, there's a section on the contract saying if I cause delays they can charge me, but them doing it, nooooooooo. Its how we know this industry is only about money, not about housing people, as there's literally no impact to them apart from a line items date of completion moving, but for me it means my life is total chaos for months!!!

It makes me want to scream with frustration!
