    Really sorry to hear this.

It is a personal choice at the end of the day. When my kitty got ill, started not eating and not keeping anything down when she did, she was slowly wasting away.

After trying various things over weeks we were left with the option of letting her go or putting her through another trip to the vet to be put under for scans and further investigation.

The vet said she would probably not survive that and vet trips always stressed her so in the end we had to let her go. Fortunately there was a travelling vet who came out so we could be with her at home, this was all around best for her but heartbreaking for me.

It's just awful, I don't think there's a right or wrong choice. You know your doggie best and have to do what you feel is right.

It's just painful. Hell, it's been over a year for me and I'm still welling up about it writing this.

    Hang in there bud.

Many moons ago, some friends of mine faced the same with their dog (Cancer in the snout).
Their solution was to adopt another young pupper for the current one to train up as a successor.

I have (from the last 2 years) Grand Mal epilepsy, at 6.16am yesterday morning I had a seizure, wife gave me the sedative (Clobazam - a benzodiazepine) the neurologist had given me (and should take for 5 days) on top of my max dose of Lacosamide.

Was a bit drowsy (Post seizure clobazam), couldn't speak properly and communicate easily because I bite my tongue during seizures, wife called NHS 111 due to worry that I've had a second brain bleed, she talks to them and while I'm speaking to them, I had a second seizure - off to the hospital for me for another CT scan.

    Thankfully clear!

    Nothing… now.

But this morning it was having a right old fit.

I tried creating a new SSID for 2.4GHz only and dropped that band from my “normal” SSID. It worked fine for a while… then the 5GHz SSID disappeared from all my devices. Then the AP rebooted itself. Then it reported as being online in Nebula but none of my devices could find either the 5GHz or 2.4GHz SSID. Then 5GHz worked… briefly. Then I reset my changes, set my regular SSID to all frequencies, killed the 2.4GHz SSID, and it rebooted. Then it worked, briefly, until it applied a firmware update, and rebooted again.

Seems to have been stable since then. I wanted to upgrade it anyway, because it tops out at around 650Mbps - even when in the same room as the AP and running an iperf test to a wired machine. The reason that’s a problem is that I have a 1Gbit connection and I wanted to go to 2Gbit… But the only 6GHz WiFi6E device I have is my work MacBook; I’m not sure it’s worth upgrading to WiFi6 with 160MHz WiFi6 channels, or WiFi6 with 2.5GbE backhaul, if I can’t get the benefit in the devices that need it the most.

I used to have wifi6 160Mhz APs (well still do in a drawer) worked well always 1Gb connection for me, 1gb LAN port so that was the limit but if you are going 2Gb then you’ll definitely want the 2.5 at a minimum, If you are doing any mesh bridging that can take advantage of new standards even if you don’t have many wifi 6 devices yet, in time they will likely come.

Problem with 160 is you can be fighting for channel space in congested areas in 5Ghz band, so whether it would work for for you is very much a suck it and see, same goes for 6E with the 6Ghz band, it doesn’t have the penetration so depending on where you need wifi, this could be an issue, for me it meant multiple Aps rolled out around the house preferably with wired backhaul, though when it does work it is blazing fast on a Wifi 7 mesh bridge for me across floors I have seen upto 6Gb via wifi to NAS.

Caused a P1 incident yesterday. Cloudformation stack containing the decommissioned proxy servers also contained the default route for the subnet. Took out our news website (38M requests per day) alongside a couple of others.

Do you even work in tech if you haven’t killed something really important in Production at least once?

This is actually quite a good indication of how healthy the working culture is at any given company. People are going to make mistakes - I’ve done it myself, I’ve taken down Prod databases that have killed a live site, wiped databases in the wrong environment hours before launch. The important part is how those issues are handled. The good ones will get the issue fixed ASAP, understand what happened, and try to put processes in place to avoid the same mistake again. The not so good ones will point fingers, blame, and bollock people.

Still doesn’t make you feel any better about it though

THIS! I was wiping our old development and testing copy of the website at the end of the day, ready for a new copy to be made. So I issued the delete command and merrily sat back in my chair as the last 5 minutes of the day ticked down. I then clocked where I was actually deleting; the production website. Stopped the delete, restored from backup, and still left almost on time!

I changed the process the day after to avoid future incidents and the owner was more than satisfied.

I think it applies to anything to be honest.

The real test of a company, workplace, hell, any sort of relationship, is how people handle things when bumps in the road come along.

Everyone can be great when everything's going according to plan.

Stuff happens, I have had a few in my time, just own it, learn from it, try and put process in place to stop it in future, move on :)

Worst I can remember is ‘someone’ ;) creating a custom bondpad to reduce parasitic on RF nodes and missing the critical layer to put a cut in the Passivation….the bit that allows you to electrically connect to a chip from the outside world, that is a few mill for mask costs and a 6 month cycle time…Doh.

My parents. As per usual, only this time they're actively demanding that I fix something on *their* car before I borrow it to go away for a weekend and if I didn't fix it by 3pm today the trip was off despite the fact that the car I'm planning to buy is sitting in the drive, screw the fact that I have trouble sleeping, sod the fact that they scrapped my car making me rely on their stupid asses for transportation, all of that is "not relevant."

**** the world I want to get off.

Therein lies the trouble - I've paid rent every month since I turned 18 and wasn't in full time education (which is most of my life,) I don't have anywhere near enough saved to move out thanks to working a min wage basic-bitch L1 Tech Support role, nor do I trust myself to look after my meatsack with all the pills and therapy and **** going on.

Whilst they can be ***** they do keep me on track with stuff like medication (I have self-destructive periods and don't take my meds or look after myself) and it works out on the whole better than when I lived alone so I just deal with it, except on occasions like this where I lock myself in my room and get ripping drunk

Had about 20 people hop in the incident, it got sorted quickly, and the only thing that's been said to me personally about the whole thing is that I was unlucky to be the one that stood on that landmine!

    What's the saying? Something like:

"A person who has never made a mistake has never done an honest day's work."

Well, I have many, many honest days of work behind me.
