I've just been chatting with my Aussie mate about all the same thing.

I can only do Aussie winters, I couldn't do a summer at all. Hell, last time I was there even some of the 'winter' days had me taking my jacket off lol.

    That’s still shorts weather.

I think I’m just made for cold weather, maybe I should move to Canada or Alaska or something.

Actually… second thoughts… maybe neither of those, one is in the US and one borders the US, so… Maybe Finland, or Iceland…

Sorry to break it to you but Finland, yes, cold at winter has proper seasons - they actually have summers.

Guess in that respect they're a bit like Canada.

I've been too hot there in the summer too.

Both of the Spawn had a rough day yesterday.

Eldest has been complaining of a sore throat and trying to get a Dr appointment is a nightmare. Doesn't help the missus uses the car for work so I've no way of getting her to an appointment or the free for all in the mornings. Finally managed to get a pharmacist to take a look (finding one that was open after 5pm) and they swabbed. Isn't Strep A and Isn't tonsillitis so like a viral thing that noone can do anything about. Top it off the wind blew a massive speck of dirt in her eye after leaving the pharmacy resulting in trying to calm a panicked child and remove it after it somehow got under the bottom eyelid

Youngest returned from nursery yesterday after being bitten by another kid in the morning. Was hard enough that it's badly bruised and you can see the individual teeth in minute detail. Apparently they messaged on the app but having an Oppo notifications can be dodgy as it decides to filter certain ones at certain times regardless of silence, sleep and working settings. Upon collection she was running a temperature and feel asleep before dinner watching TV (Something she never ever does). Phoned out of hours care and got called in to check her at 1:30am and got an antibiotic. Chances are it isn't connected and she's picked up something unrelated to the bite from the plague factory but absolutely spent today and can't concentrate on anything.

Top it off was planning of doing shopping as I know we are low on some things but didn't get round to it. Found out this morning that the missus decided to raid what was left and take it into work with her. Having to walk 15mins the opposite direction of the school run to pick up something for the kids lunch and only now realising neither of them got breakfast.

Only Tuesday but I wish this week would end. Might be coping better if I got a breather at the weekend but alas

    I hear you!

Not to compete, but just to show you're not the only one! SWMBO is in/directing a show at the moment (not that its much different the rest of the time, just somehow worse), and that has basically resulted in her doing the absolute bare minimum around the house/with the chidlers. So i've been running around like a mad man for weeks. 5:30 get up for work in the office, to get home to feed them and ferry them to/from clubs and then put to bed. after they're in bed its tidy and clean the house (including SWMBOs mess from her meals, and he tatt/stuff she's left lying around the house); and then try and scoff some food for myself. And if im lucky there might be 10minutes before SWMBO gets home for me to "relax" in...
This last weekend, i left the house with the two chidlers at 8:30 on saturday to ferry to various clubs, had to take both as SWMBO was out, so whilst one was in a club had to entertain the other. Dropped off the smallest for a playdate at 16:30, popped home to swap out necessary kit, and was then out 'til 10 at a swimming gala for the eldest. I supose at least SWMBO picked up the youngest and put him to bed, even if he didnt stay abed/go to sleep. Oh, and then i had to take the two of them to Duxford Air Show on the Sunday, which you'd think would be enjoyable, but as the youngest had a friend there they were just exagerating each others psychotic energy and playing up, and the eldest being shattered from the day before just wanted to flop all over me, which when its somewhat hot, is not fun. Stressful.

To say i'm shattered is an understatement. Bone deep exhaustion is probably more accurate :(

But Tl;dr, if you ever want to chat/vent, feel free to DM me :)

Greatly appreciated. I've a rubber duck I use for talking through problems in work and even it has abandoned me (I suspect the youngest has raided the study).

Weekend was a much watered down version of that but it feels like I'm reading an account of my life. You finish one thing then immediately are juggling two more tasks and each task is met with the stupidest levels of resistance.

Generally I've found if I can get down time I can get through the week. Team dinner and drinks tomorrow so something to look forward to. Hopefully this time I won't get a message to pick up a takeaway in the middle of it.

Chest seems to be clearing up, much relieved, although still going to get it checked out. X-ray appointment was not yesterday, but Monday 23rd July

However I've chebbed my shoulder, fear I might have done some cuff damage as it's a bit unstable and screams when putting the most minor load through it in certain directions. FML

Glad the chest is improving, damaged shoulders are really rough. You have my sympathy, I had a frozen shoulder on both sides a year apart in 2021/22.
I was warned by the consultant there was a 50%+ chance the second would go, and he was right dammit.
Thankfully only one needed surgery, physio sorted t'other.
Hope it resolves ok, I was very frustrated not being able to go kayaking for most of 2 years

Yeah, the never-ever-ending merry-go-round of immediate and urgent, must-do-right-this-second tasks...

Fingers crossed you get to enjoy the meal and drinks!

Yeh they're going to test the batch and see what they find. Said it could take a week though.

Hit and killed a deer this morning . On a blind corner, the poor thing was in exactly the wrong position for visibility, and of course ran directly in front of me when I swerved. Lower front grill is knocked in but doesn't look like it needs immediate service. First time I've killed anything larger than a bird, excepting the time I (accidentally!) ran over a rabbit on my pedal bike over two decades ago

Yikes, at least it was a done deal and you didn't need to contend with a wounded animal :/

Not ruining, but a tough week at work.

I was on holiday last week, came back Monday to both of my colleagues in product management being on holiday. Doing the jobs of two people normally, adding two more is not a great idea. I'm only 300 emails behind now, it was 600 on Monday.

I'll get through it, but I'll be damn glad once this week is over.

That's rough. What were you driving at the time? The Land Rover?

I know of a couple of people from round my way who were killed in collisions with deer, and another one who got mega lucky and really narrowly avoided serious injury.

    Nah, just a Volvo V40.

Just wish deer were smarter and recognised what a road is.

Glad you're ok Pete, deer are pretty chunky.
We were the first car behind a crash with a deer last year in the New Forest.

2 ladies in a Range Rover hit an adult deer with antlers and it was lying injured in the road.
They were both in a state and didn't know what to do.
The deer twitched for a bit and thankfully died soon after with me next to it.
I wasn't sure whether to call 999 or the forest Verderers.
As it had died, I moved it off the road into the verge a s reported it online when I got home.
The RR had a cracked nearside headlight and the bumper was adrift.
I clipped the bumper back and suggested they stop in the nearest town to get gaffer tape to secure it for the rest of the journey.

We were really thankful it wasn't us, as we were in my wife's convertible Mini.

If you're the car behind it's perfectly legal to pick it up as road kill and throw it on the BBQ, but due to poaching laws leave it in place if you're the one that hits it

Online, everyone's saying the job market is tough.

Yet 40 ****ers apply for a quiet little retail job with above non-London Real Living Wage, and only 3 might turn up. And 1 of them's a convicted paedo.

Today an applicant hurled abuse at me (and then more in messages), because he showed up 3 hours late and I said we couldn't interview him now. (As soon as I said that, he instantly ranted how he didn't need the job and in fact he already has one, so he doesn't care...)

And it's surprising the amount of grandmothers that are in hospital on people's first day.
