After a long day at work cooked myself a nice chilli for the glass on the extractor fan to randomly explode soo had to throw my food away and spend aged playing find the glass shards

 

Had our first meeting with a mortgage broker this week.

We're far from poor, but with the housing market in Sydney, we essentially are.

 

Im kinda in shock atm.. but found out a family memeber was found dead this morning, only in there mid 30s..

Thought it was odd as family member came to pick me up from work.. they never do that

 

eon, been meaning to dump them for a while but this morning they decided to change my direct debit by 200% based on an estimate with no consultation and and charge me, blew my ****ing **** everywhere after reading that.

sent final meter reading, now researching who to go with. want to switch over before the end of next week

 

I feel your pain, I'm about £500 in credit with them but they dream up excuses not to give me a refund because I 'might fall into debt,' I also live on an estate where they have exclusive supply.

 

Make a formal complaint, if they still don’t give you a refund, go to Ofgem. Seems to me they are abusing their monopoly on your estate.

 

It may get to that, but I'm still working my way through Eon's labyrinth of discontent before I can get the ombudsman involved.

UPDATE following above - I recently saw the private consultant for my suspected peripheral artery disease and following a CT Scan it's been confirmed that not only do I have it but that it's at an advanced stage in my left leg although not quite as bad in my right. I now require bypass surgery in my left leg and a stent in my right. Fortunately Benendon/Bupa paid for the diagnosis and tests but unfortunately they won't cover the cost of the treatment.

In theory I could wait for NHS treatment but in practice I'm likely to be long dead before that'll happen as they can't even quote a waiting list time for it other than a few years and it's no longer done at my local hospital. So it looks as though I'll have to pay to have it done privately and the ballpark figure is between £10-15K, it's the surgery that forms the bulk of that as the stent will be a quick in and out.

The consultant did query, given the pain I'm in, why I left it so long. I explained that I was abandoned by the NHS for follow ups for what was initially intermittent claudication during lockdown and my GP hadn't been able to get me any further appointments.

As we were leaving my wife told him that, by the way' he was the NHS consultant I'd been seeing. I did send him an email the following day explaining that Benenden/Bupa wouldn't pay for the operation(s) and that I would self fund but I haven't heard back and it's now been 7 days since I sent it.

 

My femoral/Popliteal artery bypass was done 4 years ago. The very young GP saw me during Covid times, and went over and above what most would do. He tested with a large blood pressure cuff and ultra sound, to determine the insufficient flow. I had an MRI scan done the following week, followed by proper Doppler ultrasound scans of Popliteal aneurysms, the left leg being blocked, also a AAA aneurysm. (These are checked annually, the AAA, being the main one, as at a certain size, surgery is required. ) This was to determine if a suitable vein was available, or artificial required. The following day the surgeons secretary rang to say that after the following week, the surgeon was on holiday, but had a cancellation that week. could i be in hospital on the Monday afternoon, for surgery Tuesday. I was asked in hospital if i preferred a local or general anesthetic. I thought it would be rather boring so opted for the general. Good choice, it was a 5 and a half hour operation. Left with a 2 and a half foot scar. Sometimes keyhole fails and they need to open you up. i was told i was incredibly lucky. Blocked Popliteal aneurysms usually result in amputation. I hope you get things sorted out, it's a game changer, in before and after condition.

I'm 100% behind this statement. We currently own 35% of our house and are purchasing the rest. It's bloody hard work having to handhold our solicitor and request documentation which is meant to be sent as a matter-of-course.
We're paying you a crap-load of money to make a complex thing easy you useless git, so do your bloody job!

 

Ironically, my current issues with the solicitor in question are not related to me buying a house. It does involve a house purchase, but I'm not the one who bought the house and this is not the same solicitors that carried out the conveyancing.

I know I'm being vague, that's deliberate - probably not a good idea for me to be blabbing to the internet about the legal action I may/may not be taking.

 

Went on GamersGate to buy a game and basically you can't even browse let alone buy due to the Great Firewall of Britain.

Well it doesn't ruin my life, but it sucks for them. No one's going to give their passport away rather than just buy on Steam etc. instead.

Surely that's them going under, if the entire UK customer base is now closed off except the ones using VPN maybe. Not even their fault really.

 

They've made their choice.
Seeing as they're based in the EU and offer their website in 3 other languages I'm sure they'll be fine with the customer base they've got.

 

That's fair enough! Better to stay vague and face/cause no issues than paint it all over the internet and knacker something major!
I'm sure solicitors are like printers; they can sense when something is urgent or important and all of a sudden they just stop functioning correctly.
