Other What's ruining your life right now?

The solicitor got back to me, reiterating the reason for the delay in responding. I was hoping for a “but good news…” — nope. There are still some enquiries outstanding, so we’re back to waiting again, which is becoming a ****ing nightmare. Any other time of year would be fine, but we’re really desperate to be in before Christmas, and at this rate, it just seems unlikely. The sellers are buying an empty property, so we should still be able to move quite quickly, but yeah — it’s just really demoralising now.

 

Marriage is hard. Car has problems though hopefully not a complete write off... because I can't afford another.

 

I'm with you on that one. I can't afford another wife either.

The last year has taught me that no matter how close the bond, anybody can change suddenly and in ruthlessly disloyal fashion.

 

Parcelforce and Postoffice merged this year and around september the back end systems went live and its been crap. Our company ships abouy 60 parcels a day with them and tracking and sucsess rate of deliveries has dropped.. they used to scan collections now they turn up and just load them on a van

Hope they get sorted !! We did have 1 stuck in london for over 10 weeks then it suddenly moved. So annoying as we sent replacements out.

It’s also quite an old “internet thing”, from a bygone age when “social media” didn’t dominate everything and forums were vibrant & bustling.

So I guess it’s more of a crusty middle-aged fart thing than a “damn kids and their slang!” thing

 

That's about right. I first came across FTFY, when I joined my first forum in 2004, when I was a young whippersnapper at 40, the long defunct PCAdvisor forum.

 

Me. Last night. 3:45 was the last I looked at the clock. Mr 3yo woke up at 6:20.

 

I woke up at 4:04 this morning, my first thought was "404: Sleep not found". Took me an hour to get back to sleep after that moment of genius, and then my alarm goes off at 6:00. I feel I might have already peaked for today, and it's all an uphill slog from here.

 

I was determined to get out of the house and make it to the gym yesterday, but ended up in there at 2230 last night....and left there at 0500/0530ish this morning. Then walked 5km home and did a day's work in the morning when I got in and the pre-workout chemicals (which must clearly be based on cheap speed) finally wore off and I grabbed a couple of hours on the sofa, before cracking back on with work and am still at it nearly 24h later.

Got a massive concert tomorrow as well - going to be cream crackered.

 

Rain. Constant, miserable rain every day I walk the dog.

What I don't understand is how you leave a dent like that driving at 10mph?
The perpetrator didn't stop or leave a note, but thankfully somebody else notice and left details - so I spent most of yesterday evening talking to the police, insurers, hire car companies. Hopefully the car doesn't get written off, because I really like it and can't really afford anything else right now.

 

Happened to us as well, same way - some nice chaps in a private ambulance waited over half an hour for us to finish up in motorway services then gave us the details of the other car when we finally came out. You won't like this bit though - he got away with claiming he "wasn't aware he'd caused a collision" which is the legal get-out and I was the one hauled over the coals and having to do the seven day wonder at the station with my documents.
Ours was written off as well (lost the entire back end to this dickhead's trailer), but I bought it back off the insurance company and got it fixed for cheaper than getting a new car (although that said, you can get a cheap, albeit unknown, car these days for a few hundred).
