Whelp, the inevitable happened, and I've now got flu courtesy of my colleague.

Popped out early this morning to pick up lemons and honey, as well as some food. Took some effort to stay on my feet.

The constant dread of coming home each night wondering if a SJPN has arrived. I was caught speeding at 104mph at the end of September last year.

Isn't there a time limit on how long they have to issue those notices?

I passed my test in 1997, this is my first offence. I knew I was speeding. I planned my journey well in advance (planned to arrive 2+ hours early), it was to my nans funeral. But due to multiple factors there were huge delays on the motorway, the minutes and hours ticked by and panic was setting in.

I made the choice to floor it so I could get to say goodbye. I was supposed to carry her coffin and lead most of the service. I just made it to catch the last 15 minutes and say goodbye. Life tried to screw me over and I fought tooth and nail to make it. I have no regrets, I didn't ever speed before and I am not likely to again. But put in the same situation I would do it again every time. 6 points/ban and maybe £1500 fine is a bargain to me.

Not forgetting the extra cost on your insurance, for years...

My wife says my dislike of being late, is such that it is like a phobia. I would have given the car some wellie in a similar situation.

Yes that too, let's just say I am glad it was just the 104mph they clocked me at.

Hope it doesn't hang around too long like our second holiday killer has.

It's been over a week now, it seems to be separated up into different symptoms every few days.

Driving us mad now, just as you start feeling better another batch of symptoms arrive - currently on a snotty nose and occasional hacky cough after a temperature and sore throat period.

    It's mental.

On the plus(?) side I'm glad we didn't travel

My speeding days are well and truly over, yes many years ago when the roads were quieter it was common. The worst being road testing a race prepared Suzuki gsx750 for a friend who wanted to buy it and take it to the Isle of Man. The last sight of the speedo was 150 mph. after that it was too dangerous to look. He bought it and blew the engine 2 weeks later on the Isle of Man.
Nowadays the only times are when coasting into restricted areas, i was caught last year slowing down into a 30 mph on a steep hill. He was "clearly" in sight on the other side of the dip hidden in the trees, such that the photo evidence only showed the number plate, the rest of the car obscured by trees.
Ironically bad traffic on the way to my speeding course, meant for the first time in years, i had to intentionally speed. I arrived to find my 74 year old neighbor also waiting outside.

Yup, snotty nose and hacky cough it was too.

Fortunately, I'm much better today and am back in work hopefully without endangering my colleagues. Not quite 100%, but I think these things linger if you try to wait until they're completely gone.

Oh aye, it's dragged on but at least we've been functional for a while now.

You may be lucky and not pass it on, I think it's about 4-5 days after first symptoms you can be contagious (and a bit before first symptoms which doesn't help).

Well, needn't have bothered starting post-op preparation yet. Spoke to surgeon's secretary, who wouldn't give a any sort of time frame other than "we hope to get you in before your pre-op expires in May" ...... :sigh::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

I just found out today that I forgot to pay our rent in December. I sorted a repayment plan for the arrears so they’re not going to escalate it or evict us at least.

If we pay all our bills I can’t afford food. If we don’t pay the bills we won’t have heating or light or internet for the one thing that still makes a bit of money for the household, namely the other half is a twitch streamer.

    I am so utterly ****ed.

Find your local community food pantry. That's what they're they're there for. Doesn't matter why you need food, they don't care - they just want to make sure nobody's going hungry. They'll sort you with staples until you're back in the black.

Happy to PayPal you some cash to get a few days food, things will get better. I have been there, made redundant with a 2 year old and a mortgage back in 2011 and the wife was part time.

Thank you for the kind offer, I chose food over bills and will also be no doubt contacting local food bank, your kindness and the signposting from Gareth are appreciated more than these few words can say.

Meanwhile I am going to be selling whatever I can that has some value to catch things up.

Edit to add: If anyone has Bezos Prime and a Twitch account you get a free sub to a Twitch channel… if you’re not using said free sub on somebody and can spare it and a couple minutes to click https://www.twitch.tv/subs/liliyafae thank you.

Insomnia. I've barely caught any sleep the last 5 nights in a row and it's really starting to take its toll.
