Other What's ruining your life right now?

Had my end of year review today. I think I summarised it best a few weeks ago:

 

When I get to those levels I start to feel it's a challenge to take it as far as I can

 

Back is cooked. Has been for days. Between this and the sleep issues, I'm starting to think we need a new mattress. There's a grand we can't really afford.

 

My turn for this.

Woke up two hours ago. Couldn't get back to sleep as my brain was racing. Tossed and turned for about an hour, hour and a half, before giving up and getting up.

 

I honestly find moon cycles and changing of seasons plays a big part of when I get sleep issues.

 

A chap I knew has a heavily autistic young son. He's told me that without fail, when it's a full moon, his son will be up all night (meaning he's up all night).

 

In my case I’m afraid it has a much less supernatural and much more boring explanation: I have ADHD

 

Oh man, I feel you!

 

My dog escaped the house yesterday it's now been 24 hours no signs of him. Spent hours hunting last night and only called it a day early due to darkness and heavy rain...

Rather sad atm

Am at the out of hours vet with a poorly cat who isn't eating or drinking.

She seems to have an ulcer on her tongue and may have licked something she shouldn't have.

 

Sorry to hear @Kehoe , must be pretty stressful.

Talking of stressful, hope kitty is ok @Arboreal . There's nothing quite the same as the worry you have for a little furball that is unwell that you can't communicate with.

Might I respectfully suggest an Airtag (or Moto Tag if Android user) for your doggo's collar, to de-stress any "next time"?

 

He has one on his colla r, like a idiot I am I take his collar off when he's at home so he's not got something around his neck all the time, from now on it stays on.

Very grateful to those who found him, I slept on the floor last night so he could snuggle up. He's not left my side since

 

Glad the hear doggo is back safe, sounds like he's learnt a lesson.

Now you can let your heart rate amd blood pressure come back to normal, will have been as stressful as hell.

 

It’s worth mentioning that these don’t have tracking and comms of their own, they’re rely on other devices being nearby to update their location. If there’s no other Android/iOS device nearby, all you’ll get is the last known location.

If you live in a relatively populated area it’s probably not much of an issue. If you live out in the sticks, it may not be much use at all.

But they certainly are a lot smaller and cheaper than a tracker with its own cellular comms & GPS receiver. And they’re probably better than nothing at all.

 

Been meaning to book a doctor's appointment for a couple of weeks now. I've been ignoring the fact that I've let my 40+ check up slide by for a couple of years (self-denial if anything), and since the start of the year, especially over the aforementioned fortnight, I've been feeling lethargic and my strength has suddenly dropped to well below I'd expect even when ill. So why life ruining?

Trying to book an appointment.

The last time I booked a doctor's appointment was almost a decade ago. I called on the phone and arranged the appointment in a matter of minutes for a few days later. Now, I just get some sh!tty automated message telling me to book online, or if it's urgent, to call an ambulance. The NHS form wouldn't work, so I managed to find the online request form for my local GP (where I'm registered).

So I've submitted a request to have a check up. Apparently they'll get back to me within "a few days".
