Other What's ruining your life right now?

Strong possibility I'll be losing my driving licence. I've belatedly reported myself to DVLA for having vascular dementia as I hadn't realised it's a statutory requirement. I'm hoping I don't get a fine (£1000).

I haven't been able to use my KTM 390 Duke anyway due to other medical reasons so if anyone wants to buy it cheap with a fair bit of spares and safety gear get in touch otherwise I'll probably try and flog it back to the dealer for a pittance.

 

Got a mate who might be interested if you're in a bind. I'll ask. How is it for beginners? Online reviews seem to say "Okay, but keep an eye on it and don't go mad".

 

I don't have much knowledge of current licensing requirements but I think an absolute beginner is restricted to a 125 initially.

This is a 2019 model so the only electronics are ABS and ride by wire throttle. It's relatively lightweight (I think 180kg fueled) but a high seat height for anyone under 5'8". Its quite a punchy but revvy motor with 40bhp so decent performance for the engine size but little low down torque.

It's had virtually no use since I bought it as my health has deteriorated quite a bit. it's been MOT'd annually and serviced last year. Additionally it's been treated with ACF-50 every winter. Almost certainly will need a new battery but its been on an Optimate all the time so still starts and runs the bike. It'll come with a few spares as i bought parts from Wemoto when on offer.

I'm not going to be asking anything close to book price and will negotiate anyway.

Sorry about your situation, dude. Feels bad to be asking about your bike. Westcliff is down the road from us, so is doable for sure. Only thing is she's looking to pass her test soon, has read that A2 certification (??) might be required but looking online this is a 400cc give or take, so might be a bit too big. Unless that A2 covers a rider even if they're new to it?

I'm out of my depth here, but will pass on what you said though. If nothing else, it saves you getting stuffed by the dealer and she might be willing to "sit on it" until such time as she gets more confidence/experience.

I'm 5'10"ish so I'd guess around 5'8" or so?

 

Sadly I think she may struggle a bit with the seat height. She's welcome to try it for size though.

While some bikes have the option of lowered seats this one doesn't and I also don't think there's an option to lower the rear suspension either.

Aye that's quite the run of bad luck; I've felt despair in the past but looking back I can never remember why, feels real at the time but you get past it and forget it ever happened.

Bread goes in the freezer, all the time, especially in this weather.

But I then I never eat it and anyone else here only does on rare occasions, so a loaf lasts longer that way.

 

I handle bad times by thinking when I do have good times the bad times make them feel all that much better.

Things will pan out, I've often found for the better, when there are times you just can't see how.

The very day before I went on holidays a couple of weeks ago, the washing machine breaks, refuses to empty or unlock the door.

Bought a new washing machine which got installed this morning, 20 minutes after the installers leave, while the machine is running it's first run program "water inlet fault! open water inlet."

Out of the blue got second-hand information I'm being kicked off of a project at work. No one will tell me why, absolutely no indication anyone was displeased up until now.

 

USB port or charging circuit in my main phone broke. As if I wanted to drop 200+ quid on something and the hassle of setting it up

Nah not that. Its one of those funny MIL-STD-810H phones with a watertight cover on the port

Edit: Three wall warts and a bunch of cables that work with other devices I checked. Phone brokted
