Yes, and I'm very thankful for my son's neurologist.

Generally speaking, during hypoxia, the brain swells due to a lack of oxygen. Why, I dunno. I'm sure I could find out why, but that's somewhere else. However, comparing CTs from before, during and after, we see no change. His brain didn't swell appreciably, because he has a shunt already, he had less cortex than we do already and he still has his fontanel. It's the opposite of Sandy-he had every possible thing that would go in his favor. He happens to be in the narrow band of if there will be function return, he's the right age for it. He even seems to be regaining waveform function in the brain, though it's minimal at best now.

This will be a long journey. However, he continues to do the absolutely impossible, becaue nobody told him turkeys can't fly-I mean, that he can't recover from being dead for an hour and fifteen minutes.

You don't have to share my beliefs on how it happens, but I'm sure you do share my joy that recovery may be somewhat possible. Grief shared is grief halved, but joy shared is joy multiplied.

So today I get a call from the mother-in-law. It turns out that the local chemist (still a family run place, god knows how old) had put a lovely display in the window as part of Remembrance Sunday, it actually increased givings to the charity as an ex-serviceman allowed his medals to be used as a part of it, not many people get to see genuine medals up close.

2 days ago, someone broke in and stole those medals.......only those medals. Bad enough you might think but oh no, they belong to my brother-in-law who even finished his 22 DESPITE having MS (the last few years were done teaching/training).

Words literally cannot express......... how....****ing....angry ........I am right now. I spent 5 minutes on the phone stammering and shaking, unable to speak.

Keep an eye on the news because if I find out who it was, there's going to be a god old fashioned stoning here in Staffordshire and it'll take a very long time.

**** ME I could eat diamonds and spit dust!

If you catch them, give them a good stiff kick for me. I think they deserve it.

It's not ruining my life or anything but found out a girl I went to high school with passed away a few days ago. She was only 21 and I didn't really know her but it's unfortunate to see someone go so young. Makes you stop to think about your own life and the people who are important in it.

I found a 1987 E30 320i with 110,000km on the clock and a working engine. It's in poor shape overall, there's rust in places, and the paint is buggered, but it looks like a fair car to work on for a few months to bring it up to weekend racer standards. Sounds good so far?

The seller wants 600k INR for it (approx $11000 or £7000).

    The search continues.

The numb pain in my legs has been getting worse lately, to the point where I find it hard to walk quickly for a long period of time.

This morning I had to sprint to stop my dog from chasing a cat into the middle of traffic.

The pain now is making me feel dizzy.

    @KayinBlack
as a doctor of intense care unit i often had to tell people "hard things" but when it comes to kids - i always try to be as gentle as i can and give parents all support i can.
during hypoxia brain cells go to anaerobic state and produce a lot of "acids" and water moves to cells from nearby tissues which is lead to cells swelling.
once again i say: kids can recover from very severe damage and i hope that You'll show him many turkeys

Sorry to hear that dude, when you have an animal for so long its crazy to imagine them not being with you anymore.

About to prepare for work and i get two things said to me.

    - Its crazy down there (its usually busy but the levels of busy go from busy, really busy, crazy and blow your brains out mental)

    - Two people have called in sick :duh: one of which is on the late shift with me, and is quite a pleasant person to be around :naughty:

Its like waiting to go to the electric chair...

This should only be in here if you had nobody to share it with at the time. Nothing worse than a wasted epic fart

My wife is super upset because he had to be sedated because he woke up partially and was fighting the vent. Yes, he did wake up partially, but he could have punctured his lung before the Versed. I can't seem to get across to her how dangerous that was. Had a family member die from it last year.
