    Glad you're feeling a bit better Jake, keep your chin up mate, life is a PITA sometimes but things always get better. I know the loyal members of bit-tech will always be here to listen and support you in any way we can!

    It pales in comparison to the problems of some others, but it's a major inconvenience for me - the clutch on my car has started to slip :/ The stupid money pit on wheels has cost me all the disposable income I had left from December and pretty much every penny of it from January so far, just to keep it on the road :rolleyes: At this rate it almost makes more sense to buy a decent quality second hand one from the same year to use as a parts car :grr:

    I feel your pain Uni, cars are such an incredible waste of money yet so essential unless you live and work in the same place.

    It really hurts.

    Yeah, the list of what has needed done on it in the past 6 months is ridiculous;

    Tyres. Lots of them. I've lost track of what rubber I've been running and when. Right this minute, it's wearing a full set of Dunlop SP Sports because the Hancook and Michelin ones I had on before turned out to be rubbish. With the accident, uneven wear and seemingly endless punctures (builders leaving nails and screws on the ground around sites.... grr) I gave up and pulled all of them off to be replaced with a brand new set before the really bad weather came.

    After the small accident I had in November, I needed the following to get it roadworthy again;

    • N/S Suspension strut (new)
    • N/S Lower wishbone/control arm (new)
    • N/S Track rod end (new)
    • Steering tie rod (new)
    • Vertical suspension link arm (new)
    • Front wheel hub assembly including bearing (breakers)
    • 15" Renault "Del Arte" alloy wheel (breakers)
    • 2x Hancook 185/55/R15 tyres (fronts) (new)
    • 1x Accident recovery call out service
    • 1x Dunlop 185/55/R15 tyre (rear N/S, required prior to accident)

    Since that, I've done the following;

    • New N/S electric wing mirror
    • Oil & filters
    • Front brake pads
    • Front N/S brake disc
    • Front N/S wheel arch splash guard

    And cosmetically, it still needs this;

    • Front N/S wing removed, mounts cut off & re-welded back in correct place, damage to inner wheel arch repaired & wing re-fitted
    • Front lip replaced, front bumper mounts on N/S repaired
    • N/S wing mirror cover resprayed
    • Front N/S mudguard replaced
    • Rear bumper resprayed, N/S mudguard mounts repaired and guard re-fitted
    • Rear N/S panel at the front of the rear wheel arch has a "car park" dent in it - needs pulled, filled and resprayed
    • The rims are getting into a bit of a state and the second hand one I got from the breakers is the worst of them, they'll need resprayed sometime

    And now it seems it'll need a clutch in the next few thousand as well :rolleyes:

    All on a car that still looked showroom fresh this time last year. Sigh :sigh:

    I had the same problem with my old C2, bought it new in 2004 and had it religiously serviced up until about 100k, then decided to do it myself. At that point everything started to go wrong with it. Unbalance-able wheels, knocking suspension, rattling gearbox, slipping clutch, cambelt snapped at 60mph (that wasn't cheap, only four valves escaped unscathed), handling got all unpredictable, electrical faults, kept getting mysterious scratches and dents when it was parked.

    The list went on and on, by the time I got it just shy of 150k in 2011 it was urgently in need of a new gearbox so I just gave up and sold it for scrap.

    Not faring much better with the current motor tbh. Remember my thread a while back about the fuel smell from the block? Still a problem because I've been far too skint to let anyone have a look at it. Probably just a leaky pipe or gasket but if it's anything more I'll just have to live with it until it breaks. :miffed:

    On the subject of cars:

    I can't solve my E30s misfire and running lean issues. So far I've tried:

    - Replacing vacuum hoses
    - Replacing HT Leads
    - Replacing Plugs
    - Replacing Fuel Filter
    - Replacing Air Filter
    - Fuel pressure is where it's supposed to be
    - Mass Air Flow sensor is working
    - Throttle Position Sensor is working
    - Cleaned the throttle body
    - Injectors are working fine

    All i can think of as possible culprits are:

    - An engine temperature sensor sending a bad reading
    - Another engine sensor is faulty
    - Possible fuel pressure regulator fault but I don't think it's that
    - Possible fuel flow rate issue but again that seems unlikely
    - I still have a vacuum leak I've failed to find or stop

    If i can't solve it this weekend it's going to BMW on Monday and they can deal with it. Without my car I don't have a job. I'm getting beyond the point of dicking around right now and just want it fixed.

    Got iPad and contract etc all sorted, until delivered... came to install SIM card, and they'd given me a nano-SIM when I needed a micro-SIM.. grr.

    Ran to local Three store, and they couldn't give me the right one becuase I wasn't fully active on their systems yet.

    Not life ruining.. just irritating.

    So will have to rush back this evening and find a Three store that's open until 9 or the like.

    So you end up spending longer saving your work than you actually do working on it?

    I feel for you!

    Sometimes I have to clean up really messy CAD drawings, a quick purge and audit normally sorts out lots of the problems but it will often crash when saving :(

    Windows 8 has to be the absolute WORST choice I could have made for a workstation. I'm gonna wipe and put Linux on there, the bugginess is insane.

    Is the ECU connection good? Seems like that's a problem with E30s.
