I'm buying a black Audi A4 soon and it would be great to get the paint how it's meant to be. Going to see if i can find a bonnet from a rear end write off to try a DA polisher.

Very nice, what year/mark of A4 are you buying? One of my colleagues in school drives a 2001 A4 which is mechanically sound, has not one single dent, needs a little bit of interior electrical work, but also needs a massive correction detail on the paint. If he let me at it for a few days, I could make it look like new. He's changing it soon too, so letting me correct it could improve the value of it.

I know people who own extremely nice cars and have never washed their own car, or even taken it to a hand car wash themselves. So sad... Anyway, out of interest how many miles do you do roughly per year in it, and do you get it washed somewhere at all regularly?

Detailing is a hobby of mine, I now take it seriously enough to spend quite a lot of time and money on it, and I'd do it whether I owned a barely-running 90's compact or a brand new supercar. To someone like me, detailing becomes a bit of an obsession because any car genuinely does look 100% better when it looks like glass in the sunshine and newer than the day it rolled off the production line. Part of detailing is the never ending search for the best products and techniques to achieve that in the least possible time, which rather ironically is the time consuming part :)

A car related one for me... got some sort of rattle coming from the exhaust of my Celica (7th Gen). Heat shield is fine and there doesn't appear to be a fracture in the exhaust. Seems to be worst at 2.2k RPM, and once the vibrations take hold it's a while before it'll stop, even carrying on while idle sometimes. Dreading what this might cost to sort out. :(

My ISP (Be) has been bought out by Sky (spit).
I was going to jump ship with the other 100,000 (20%) of O2 & Be's customers, but I found out it'll be at least another year until I can get fibre.

I do around 6-10k each year and the car goes through a car wash 1-2 times each year.

It's most likely the internals of a silencer falling apart due to corrosion, either that or the Monolith in the Cat is falling apart.

Looking at some pic's on google, my money is on that mid box just in front of the rear wheels. Looks to be a great water trap.

Been to the dreaded dentist for some extractions. Now I have exposed jaw bone on both the upper and lower jaw.

Looks like my diet of Soup, Supernoodles and Mash Potato is going to continue for at least another month.

Less than half my mileage then. More than half of my driving is done on mucky country roads in the autumn and winter, and dusty country roads the rest of the year, which even if you remove my obsession for detailing from the equation, necessitates at the very minimum a couple of washes per month.

The Intel Download Centre has ruined my morning. I get "page not found" every time I go and search for a driver by OS and I need a very specific version of two drivers from it. SORT IT OUT, INTEL :grr:

We don't drive to work so the mileage is nice and low, going to buy an old MX5 soon which will make pottering about a lot more fun :)

Nice, I'm definitely a fan of not driving to work if you can avoid it. Save the planet and all that, although in my case it's unavoidable unfortunately. MX5 sounds like a great idea, if I was getting one I'd totally be doing this to it:

That's me though, a perpetual tinkerer and turbo nut :p

That really is awesome. I'd go for some of that!
