Personally, I can't fathom the offensiveness of the word 'thorpe', though :worried:

Generally pissed off. Paid a fair bit of money to go for an interview for a job I really wanted on Monday, to be told I would find out today whether I have got it or not. The company haven't even bothered contacting me which is just generally dickish after saying they would, just leaving me to stress all day. Why state a specific day you will speak to me about a job, and then don't.

I hate it when they don't call after saying they will. I don't know how many interviews I've had (not many), but I know for sure that only one potential employer has had the decency to call and explain why I didn't get the job.

Indeed, I just find it very disrespectful that I spend around £60 to go to an interview, take a day off work as holiday and not even to get a response when they barely went into double figures for people interviewed.

I didn't even get that far.

They installed cable in the street next to my house, but stopped 25m ish from where they would need to stop outside my property. I called them to ask if they would extend the cable to my house with their "cable my street" scheme.

They said they would and I'd have it installed by 19th May. I also called EE to cancel my broadband on the same date.

As of Friday they still hadn't dug up the street, but they had sent a team round to run a cable from the street through the garden to my house, twice! I've also had 3 texts from Virgin to confirm the install appointment.

I made a few phonecalls over the weekend only to receive a reply today at 3.30pm saying they can't afford to extend the cable.

I've just spent the last 30 mins getting my EE contract reactivated and they've reduced my bill by £3 too.

Right, genuinely angry to the point of rage.

This isn't petty either, this is serious stuff that could've got me arrested if it got any more out of hand.

This mother accused me of being a paedophile. Why? Because I'm a stay at home dad. That makes me mad enough. She had the nerve to go and talk to her friends about it. She seriously discussed unsubstantiated claims with other people. I know these people, I see these people, my children play with these people's children at school.

There are no dads that walk around pushing a pram except for me and this one other guy.The only difference is that this other guy is popular and has a lot to talk about with other mothers and people in general. I don't have much in common with other parents. Since i'm seemingly a bit of an outsider, a stay at home dad and I have three daughters that I take to and from school - I apparently must be a f'king nonce? The nerve in that. She was apparently talking about this to others before it got to me. At such point I was approached by the school's headteacher - a delightful woman who is generally unbiased. She talked to me about these claims, this woman even talked to her about this. The woman spoke to THE HEADTEACHER. She spoke to the headteacher about claims she had absolutely no proof, evidence or even any reason to accuse me of. This woman obviously doesn't like me, so I don't know if she's done this out of spite or with a real inkling. I do know this woman, but I have no idea why she's said these things. I don't hate or nor like her, we've never had an extended conversation other than a hello and general things like that.

It was sorted out, because I basically said it as it is - I'm a stay at home dad, I take my kids to and from school each day, I dress them, make their food and generally do a better job than most mothers I know. My kids are happy children, I don't need to scream or shout to get them to do anything. They have manners, morals and ethics that far surpass their ages. They're intelligent; my daughter has a reading and writing age higher than some adults in our area. I do a damn good job for what I have to do each day, and that's with very few friends, a spouse who doesn't appreciate me and a family who neglected me and doesn't associate with me. I said everything I said to her with such conviction and confidence. She told me that she's going to sort out some sort of meeting with her, myself and this woman who accused me of these claims.

This genuinely upsets and enrages me. I got home this afternoon and cried because I'm now thinking that people think of me this way. Moments later I punched a wall out of pure rage because it angers me that people would believe such claims. Why do people have such a problem with stay at home dads? Is it that weird? Is it that unnatural? Me and the missus have decided I'm looking for work. Her contract is up soon so I'm going to be working. I won't have to deal with this S#!t soon enough.

Recently moved home, and working through the list of improvements we decided to replace the existing rear garden fence separating us with the neighbours.

The fence was topping out at just over 2m (wave design), the top of which was a trellis design, but it was pretty ugly panels screwed into fence posts and in need of repair so we decided to have it replaced. In addition the neighbours conservatory looks straight into our kitchen through the trough in the design.

We mentioned to the neighbours (especially as the supporting posts are shared - fence put in place by the original developers along the boundary line) that we would be replacing the fence with a more traditional design. They didn't object so we got someone in to take it down and build a new fence.

The new fence is just a little lower but still just above the 2m line, however it's continuous feather edged vertical boards.
To ensure it was structurally sound the joiner extended the height of posts by adding two narrower vertical posts either side (the post were only 4 feet high).
    Code:
    | | | | | |
    | | | | | |
    | | | | | |
    |[]| |[]| |[]|
    |[]| |[]| |[]|
    |[]| |[]| |[]|
    |[]| |[]| |[]|

The neighbours were at home during the two days the joiner was there putting up the fence, and the following week when I was out painting it and and setting up a site for a new shed.

We then went on holiday for a week, only to have the neighbour knock on the door on our return to complain about the fence.

He mentioned that someone had already complained to the local authority, which was odd as the fence didn't breach any planning regs (it's shorter than the fence it replaced so hight is not an issue, it's of safe construction, it's not some wacky colour, and doesn't block out sunlight on their side).
We went round to their back garden to have a look, and to be honest it looks ok, much better than it did before - but all they would talk about were the new posts on their side and continually saying it looks fine from my side.

I offered to run horizontal panels, similar to what they have on the lower 4 feet, on the top portion of the fence - so I left them for a couple of days to mull it over - but no that didn't fly.

In the end I suggested I get someone to box in the posts to finish them off, maybe even turn it into a feature which seemed to go down well.
Whilst it will cost me a little more, it is worth it for harmony - we have only just moved in and plan on being here for the foreseeable future.

    TL;DR

Moved into new house, put up new fence which neighbours didn't like, and had to offer to carry out additional work to keep them happy.
Annoying, but glad it's sorted - or will be soon.
